My daughter does weird stuff to prove to herself in her head that she is gay. She pretends like when she grows up she will wear a tuxedo at the wedding, and then winks in the mirror pretending like She is talking to another girl. I don’t Know- If I keep Letting her do these things. She said today she saw a movie poster on netflix and it had two girls kissing . She said she “wanted to be in that situation” and then that gave her anxiety. Is this all NormaL HOCD?

She has had major crushes on boys. She watched a video 3 months ago on TikTok and that set her off and now she thinks about it all day .

Like some stuff is staple HOCD stuff - most of the stuff and then some stuff it’s like questionable ? She will say something like “my brain tells me I need to be gay “

It’s hard I want to help her but sometimes I just have to let her sit in the anxiety. She is only 12 so I’m happy this happened under my supervision and not in the some dorm room in college and she wouldn’t have known what was going on. How can your brain tell you “that you need to be gay “

@Tiredxxx She knows. I am trying . Trust me everyday is an uphill battle combined with a hormones of a teenager . It’s one of the hardest things I’ve dealt with . I’ve tried some erp at home and she doesn’t want to do it . She won’t look at catalogs even with woman and their clothing. She says it sends her spiraling down

@rachel1219 She’s probably just afraid of her fears coming true hence the avoidance to start therapy. Have her join any appropriate ocd groups, may be she’ll be receptive to treatment when she sees that she’s not alone.

Could be! If the idea of being gay gives her anxiety then she most likely has HOCD but I’m no therapist. You should probably take her to see an ocd specialist

Not much - she said she did have a dream she was gay and felt something down there. She thought about the dream all day
