Ok thanks i am sitting crying my eyes out hopeing this is ocd. I feel like nothing is helping i just feel like im gay when really all i want back is my love for women. This has ruined my life i dont want to think of men i feel like im never going to be happy again 😥

I know how you feel. I know exactly how you feel. How awful and horrible and life-ruining this has been. But ERP WORKS. There is hope. You’ve got to do this to regain your life. It’s SO hard, but doing compulsions as you’ve seen has never gotten you better! You can do this therapy! Don’t give in to the compulsions. Feel this distress no matter how AWFUL it is. By feeling it and resisting a compulsion, you’re letting the anxiety response come down naturally — teaching your brain that there is nothing to fear because the compulsive response isn’t needed!

Im not so sure. This all started when i was 22 im 37 now but the last 5 months have been worse than ever ive had cbt im back on my medication ive had counciling. Im praying for my kids i get better 😞

Hey stay strong im at that stage where i feel like the only way to stop this is to come out 😥 i cry nearly everyday. I feel like my brain has put a block on me likeing women and its horrible. You will pull through this there is no way you would feel this way if you was bi 👍

thank you, i am honestly so close to the edge, feeling suicidal most days over this. and hey take some of your own words, if you really were bi or gay you wouldn’t feel this much pain right.

@Ihateocd83 don’t be sorry, i told my mum i wanted to end myself this morning because of this, we are in simular situations. we are here for you! if you have any social media like instagram you want to chat on and check up on eachother and vent when we need i don’t mind doing that i hope your okay !!!

I just feel like i am and there is nothing i can do about it. I think of men all the time and i dont want to i want my old life back 😞. I say stuff in my head like i want a boyfreind etc and i dont know if its reality im so lost

I know it feels horrible right now but don’t give up. ERP is the best therapy for OCD and you need to do it as much as you can. Agree with the fear or accept the uncertainty; sit with the discomfort while refusing to do ANY compulsions; and feel the horrible discomfort while refusing to do ANYTHING OCD tells you to do. In fact, do the exact opposite of what it says. That’s the quickest way to beat it. By feeling the distress WITHOUT a compulsive response, you’re retraining your brain and teaching it that there’s nothing to fear. I recommend you get a therapist. They help people all the time. I’ve read reviews from people who overcome HOCD just by learning to say “maybe. Maybe not.” By accepting the uncertainty like that it no longer bothered them. Most people just quit because it’s so hard. I’m not recovered yet as I’ve just started ERP, but from the work I have put in, I am feeling better. 💖

@Ihateocd83 What do you feel an urge to do once you get those thoughts or concerns about being gay? Do you... - Ruminate on the thought - Try to figure it out - Try to neutralize it with a “straight” thought - Give yourself reassurance that you aren’t gay - Search online to determine if you’re gay or not - Worry about it - Feel unable to move on until you’ve “dealt with” the thought - Avoid things that trigger you Anything you do to relieve the anxiety after an obsession (or to avoid one) is a compulsion. Anything you feel the urge to do. Anything you feel wrong or more anxious if you DON’T do — like leaving the thoughts there or not trying to figure them out. Anything you feel *compelled* to do!

I really dont know what to do for erp ? I feel like im lieing to myself why am i thinking of men ? It feels like i want to be with a man ?

I would recommend getting an OCD specialist to walk you through ERP, trying the SOS feature in the app, or following the therapy I linked you above. That article will explain everything you need to do.
