@animal35353 Do you feel the same ? You look at your current crush and wonder —- hmmm why don’t I like him as much anymore ?

@rachel1219 Yesss! so much

@animal35353 My daughter came home today and she said she is feeling uncomfortable around guys and that she is only has one active crush and still wonders about him but I do believe ocd gets in the way of your crushes too

@rachel1219 it really bothers me

I’m just here to let you know that asking “am i the only one?” sorts of questions can be a compulsion, and compulsions don’t help us figure out the truth, they just keep us stuck. Another thing to add is that someone could have sexual orientation OCD and NOT experience loss of attraction, reading that may make you spiral even more when not in the framework of ERP. I know it can feel confronting when someone’s telling you to not do something, but I’m telling you because I care and I know that when I was at my worst I was doing the same things. Although there is trait aspects of each theme, everyone’s experience will be different in some way, so trying to find validation through what other people experience isn’t as beneficial as a short burst of calmness you may feel!

@animal35353 What scares you
- Date posted
- 4y
@rachel1219 Even I growing up can confidently say that I had periods when I had no crushes on anyone - not one person.
- Date posted
- 4y
@rachel1219 i get that. but i find it scary because it kinda feeds into the thought “your gay. coz you don’t like *whoever* anymore”
- Date posted
- 4y
But the guy that you did like - you don’t like him anymore
- Date posted
- 4y
My daughter also said when she goes to school because of HOCD she feels like she is only looking at the girls and not even looking at the guys and that scares her even more
- Date posted
- 4y
But I do think it’s all hocd

yes i am the same as your daughter. and it’s very distressing. it’s making me think i like women of all ages. and i don’t want to
- Date posted
- 4y
She doesn’t even know anymore wNfs she wants the ocd has put a big question mark in her head for everything- but if I tell her it’s ok “I’ll get you married to a woman ... if you fall in love with one “ ... then she starts worrying she says “that makes me worry “ and that way I know it’s HOCD.

that’s exactly how i felt when my mum told me it’s okay to love who i want. it made me worse
- Date posted
- 4y
So it shouldn’t make you worry . It should make you feel good and if it makes you worry you have HOCD and honestly - there is absolutely no need to have a crush at every single moment in your life

If I can give you any advice as your virtual mother 😀

What is your scariest issue right now ? That you don’t like your current crush as much? I went through that a lot ... crushes got boring - school got busy —-/ etc etc ... periods of time when I had no crushes..... it is just part of growing up
- Date posted
- 4y
i think it’s more likely the hocd. i haven’t felt even butterflies in my chest like i used to. i don’t like it. my biggest problem atm is looking at a girl and feeling like i want to be with her and i just want to cry once i’ve felt that
- Date posted

@animal35353 My daughter goes through the same same things
- Date posted
- 4y
Yes my daughter goes through the same thing ... every single girl ....
- Date posted
- 4y
Sometimes I cave in and say it’s ok ... you can be gay ... I’m ok with it and she just gives me a look like that’s not the answer she is looking for but it’s so hard sometimes for me too ... but I do believe you can push through

I can always talk to you - when you speak with your mother - what does she say ?

i don’t often talk to her. i just don’t feel like she would understand. i just tell her it’s not been a good day in my head

when i was younger. like 8/9/10 (not sure) me and this friend that’s a female also. we played these games that involved kissing and getting to know bodies. my hocd (if that’s what i have) is telling me that that’s the proof that i am gay from a young age. i liked doing it at the time. it took me years to realise that i didn’t like it. i always say “what if that didn’t happen. all would be fine”

Yes it’s very hard I can understand- my daughter was joint to art clas today and she constantly worries about the same thing that she is gay . I told her that her brain is gonna get fried up and she is gonna get exhausted. Truly at some point we must accept the uncertainty and things will turn out ok

@animal35353 Hey! I’m seeing your comments quite frequently, I know that you’re extremely anxious right now and in the deep throws of OCD, but what you’re doing is engaging in compulsions. I know how hard it is to resist, but although it feels good to get reassurance it is making your OCD expenentionally worse. I think you need to do a lot more research on OCD so you know what is happening and how to deal with it! Go onto YouTube and look into OCD videos. PureOChrissie does numerous videos on this theme, and there are various different qualified OCD therapists that speak on this. OCD is OCD regardless of the theme, so researching OCD itself is a very good way to understand yourself. This may be reassurance, but it’s important you know this - childhood sexual exploratory behaviour is ENTIRELY normal and healthy. It isn’t a reflection of sexuality. It happens in virtually all children and is expected. OCD will try to find anything to prove itself. It’s the same as health OCD in many ways - ‘I’m scared I have cancer... someone I know died from it, if they could, then so could i, oh no, I feel light headed’ etc, etc. Please, PLEASE stay off of this app until you know more about OCD and your theme. You won’t regret it. I had this theme, and I recovered. The one thing that was holding me back the most was engaging in behaviours like this. It keeps you STUCK, it does not help you move forward. I’m sending you my love. Start making steps to recovery. I wouldn’t advise you to start the ERP on this app until you’re more aware of what it truly is you’re experiencing. You’re not doomed to this, I promise you - I can speak from my own experience! Educate yourself. I can link some videos if you would like

ERP and education on OCD, just heed the advice I’ve given you! Start with the OCD research and then look into an ERP therapist!
