No, but they could exist comorbidly, as in interchangeably.

Ok so i could have panic disorder or health anxiety and then get ocd ?

I don’t think the other disorders had anything to do with you developing OCD, although OCD could have come after your other disorders, but I’m not a medical expert so I can’t tell you for sure. But I do know that you can get OCD at any age.

Health Anxiety is basically the same as OCD. Just think about it: You experience something odd about your body, then become anxious. After that you want to have reassurance to not become anxious and you check the symptoms of the disease you think you have. It's the same as OCD. The same for Social Anxiety Disorder.

@Max That’s actually hypochondria

@Intrusive Thots Nope today it's called health anxiety. And if you have other obsessions, therapist are most likely to diagnose OCD instead of Health Anxiety disorder because there both almost the same.

@Max No, it’s literally hypochondriasis. It’s under the anxiety umbrella and is very similar to OCD, along with ORS and BDD. I don’t think “health anxiety” is a diagnosis in the DSM-5

@Intrusive Thots '' What is health anxiety? Health anxiety is an obsessive and irrational worry about having a serious medical condition. It's also called illness anxiety, and was formerly called hypochondria. This condition is marked by a person's imagination of physical symptoms of illness''

@Max Illness anxiety disorder. Okay, they updated the DSM-5. Wasn’t aware of that. My bad. I always associated it with OCD, but went with hypochondria because of the symptoms. Yeah, I have that type of OCD too along with other themes.

@Max So when i used to get a headache i used to think it was a brain tumour or if i had a belly ache i thought my appendix was going to burst or something like that. Is that health anxeity ?

@Ihateocd83 If it's obsessive, and the fear is constantly returning back, and your doing compulsions (Checking internet, visiting GP multiple times, monitoring your body), then yes, it can be called health OCD / health Anxiety. For example, right now I'm scared to death about having bone cancer. I got pain at my tibia since last Saturday. I'm constantly searching the symptoms on Google, I constantly monitor the feeling and I'm in full panic mode. If you have experienced this with more than one thing, it's most likely health anxiety / health ocd. I thought I had a Brian tumor, bone cancer, lymphoma, testicular cancer, bowel cancer, MS, ALS, parkinson's, schizophrenia, NPD, ASP, Crohns disease, collitis and some other things lol

@Max I dont really have it now just hocd if it is that. I dont want to live a lie or in denial. But it doesnt feel right being that way i just want to love for women back. There is no conclusion to this

@Ihateocd83 There is. But your not going to find is by doing compulsions. And you have to be okay with not knowing. That's the way out of this horrendous disorder

@Max I worry because i only have this hocd going on 😞. And i dont know how to beat it.

@Max And i say really crazy gay stuff im my head. Like i just want c**k anyones c**k this has to be intrusive 😞

@Intrusive Thots It’s called illness anxiety disorder in the DSM5. But there was/is debate about filing this under an OCD subtype

So i used to have health anxiety i think and suffer from panic attacks. Like if i got a headache i would think i had a brain tumour. Now i think i have hocd it all started after 1 thought when i was 22 im 37 now and things have got so bad its like i find men attractive and want to be with a man 😥

It's all OCD mate. But reassurance ain't gonna help you. It'll only make things worse for you. You gotta try to live with the ucnertainity which is unfortunately very hard to do. But what do you rather want? Accepting the 1% chance of being gay, or live life with these horrendous thoughts?

I try accept but then it feels like im excepting to be gay and my brain wont let me do it. But then my mind tells me i want it and it feels like im into mens bits this has only happened to me in the last 6 months the whole penis thing im 37 but had this going on since 22 😞

You have to accept the thoughts. Not being gay. These thoughts / feelings / urges are the things you have to accept. They don't mean anything about you dicne they are intrusive. Just think of it like maybe you want it or maybe you don't. Unfortunately it's the only way out. Does not matter how disgusting the thoughts are, you just gotta embrace the uncertainty.

Its like sometimes they dont even disgust me tho im not sure if they do or not. Or if im just in denial and holding back that actually like them. There is just no conclusion 😞🤷♂️
