I can understand anxiety around the issue of therapists. I've had multiple times where I began to doubt something about my therapist. Case in point: my first appointment with my NOCD therapist. He was distracted by an issue regarding liscensing in my state. As a result I didn't feel like he was listening to me. I respectfully texted him and let him know how that impacted me. Long story short I'm glad we got it worked out and I'm feeling better. Once you get a therapist, text them this very concern. It may give them insight into your OCD.

@Ben84 Yeah ok but there’s still one thing, and that’s im stuck between two therapist. Therapist A had a time that wasn’t the earliest but the lady on the phone said she had experience with that therapist and they were a liscensed social worker so i went with her whereas therapist b had earlier times but wasnt a social worker. I had a bad feeling about therapist a and when she told me she would have to move it back to friday i thought it was a sign i asked if she could do earlier and she said Thursday. Therapist B couldve done tomorrow but i wasnt unsure of who to go with and went with therapist A when i finally decided to go back to therapist B her earliest became Friday as well. Now im not sure if i made the right choice i went back to call abour therapist A’s times again and the lady said it would now be March 3 but the lady had also said it would be Friday when she said she could do Thursday. I liked how approachable therapist b was and how there wasn’t any conflicting schedule times she was telling me but therapist b is giving me a bad feeling as well now. I think i want to go back to therapist a and see if there’s an earlier time but then i might lose my slot with therapist b. I know it’s alot but please help

@Coul.C The appt is at 7 am with therapist b which is really too early but the lady told me that if there were other openings with different therapists she’d let me know

@Coul.C Reading this, the thing that jumped out at me was you describing Therapist B as "aporoachable". Therapist A would likely have been fine as well, but B is probably the one to try first.

@Coul.C My advice: Do the appointment you have scheduled tomorrow morning (I too have had a 7 am appointment). They do an assessment on the firsr session. Answer as honestly as you can, but don't worry about giving a "wrong" answer. Personally, I felt like the assessment didn't capture my OCD and it took a few sessions to really get at the heart of it. You're allowed to text your therapist once a day, so take advantage of it. Also, feel free to do what I do: Let them know you'd like to read them something at the start of your sessions (maybe not the first because they have to asess). Then read out your problem/thinking to them. As always if you have a problem/question about therapy we're here to help (I e-mailed NOCD advocate Carl about a concern I had with therapy).

I hope you picked a good one, I'd go with the one that is the most compassionate. For you and me, it's always a battle with OCD, I think our brains have turned against us.....please hang in there.

Thank you. Its not only that but i suffer from magical thinking ocd so there’s that in play. Theres one therapist who seems more responsive her earliest is this friday. There’s the other who the lady on the phone said she had experience with and she told me tomorrow but then changed it to Friday, afterwards when i asked if there were earlier times she said she could do Thursday.

@Coul.C I suffer from magical thinking too, I am trying to fight the thoughts that everything is a sign, I was doing it for so long.
