Maybe try more than one session BUT I will say if you are promised a certain amount of time and are paying for it, make sure you are getting what you agree to. 90 minutes does seem a bit long but maybe that was just for the first session.

I felt similarly after my first session. They have to do the assessments and it can feel impersonal. Also OCD therapists aren't going to "get in the weeds" as much as a talk therapist might. When she interrupted you what did she say? Did she ask questions? What stuck out most to me was the first session ending so early. This isn't necessarily a "bad" thing, but you have the right to get clarification on it. You could text her like I did and just indicate that the session ending much earlier than scheduled raised doubts and anxiety for you. You would just like to know why it ended so early. If she's a good therapist, this won't bother her at all.

Did it end early for you as well? And ok that makes sense i guess.

Ok but i sent her like three paragraphs and all she responded with is I understand?

@Coul.C It didn't end early, but I did have a concern about his attentiveness. We got it worked out and have had success since.

@Coul.C You could try asking "Is this something you could help me with during our next session?"

@Ben84 Oh ok so it went the full 90 minutes? And she was responding fine and then only responded with asentence. Idk

@Coul.C Yes, about the full 90 mins. She was responding fine? Had you given her similar information before? Were you repeating yourself a bit?

@Ben84 I read the question wrong so the first three paragraphs were about that. The last paragraph answered the question which we talked about on that other post... idk

@Coul.C Hmm...I'd recommend seeing what happens during your next session. Like I mentioned I didn't feel great about the first one either. "I understand" can feel like a terse response. That's a downside to texting or forums like this. That's why I often use emojis ☺. It makes my intention more clear. Some people communicate better in writing (like myself) and some don't. I'd say give her a chance.

@Ben84 Ok ben I’ll see with her on Monday i guess. Just not great especially since my magical thinking was telling me it wouldn’t be

@Coul.C Based on what you've told me, I can see why you're feeling cautious. However, I don't see any definitive red flags. For what it's worth I think you're doing great ☺. Be honest with your therapist about your concerns. A good therapist will admire someone who advocates for themself.
