I went through phases of depersonalization at one point and I can feel it happening on occasion (often when I’m sleep deprived or my general anxiety is spiked). The best answer to recovering from it is similar to that of OCD itself- nothing. The experience may happen, but you can choose not to respond to it. This doesn’t mean it’s easy or less uncomfortable, but it will allow it to occur less because you won’t be anticipating it out of fear after awhile. When I feel a depersonalzied episode coming on, I label it in my head for what it is - a symptom of anxiety- and continue without engaging in the fears of what it means or how to eliminate it (because the idea is it will go away on it’s own). Now I’m able to dismiss it before it can take full effect and the occurance is far less than it used to be. When you feel in control of something, you no longer need to fear it. I hope this can be of some help.

@Ella___ Are you presently on any type of medication? If symptoms progress to a debilitating state like you’re describing, it may be worth exploring that option to offer you some relief.

@Ella___ It’s possible the herb has excaberated an existing mental health condition for you. That’s why it’s so important to take caution when taking supplements that are not prescribed. If it’s persisting within the next day or so, I would recommend going to see your general practitioner to discuss what you can do and rule out whatever other effects the supplement may have had. For future reference, I would recommend looking into SSRI’s to help combat your anxiety.

@Ella___ Being hospitalized requires more than a temporary side effect of a drug. I understand being afraid of your parents reaction, but it’s important to view the situation from a responsible standpoint and it’s important to take the right measures to ensure you can recover from these bad side effects and whatever potential condition you’re dealing with. If you’re unable to speak to your parents, maybe you could call your general practitioner to ask if coming in would be needed, or express to your parents that you aren’t feeling well (without disclosing the specific details if it’s too much) so they can an arrange an appointment with your doctor anyway.
