I would definitely try to find a new therapist ! Ocd and questioning sexuality are too very very different things but since she’s not an ocd specialist she wouldn’t understand that. Believe me you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you. Sending you love and strentgh❤️❤️

I had a similar experience with a CBT therapist (not ocd specialist also) who said I should just go try being with the gender I feared I was attracted to, sent me spiralling for WEEKS. I've since been to an actual OCD specialist who was shocked that any therapist recommended this to me. My advice is try to see an OCD specialist if you can because it is such a complex disorder. And for right now, the more you think about it and worry the worse it will seem in your head. So try your best to take a few deep breaths, allow the thoughts to be there (doesnt mean agreeing with them) and focus on ANYTHING else until your mind calms down a bit. Wishing you all the best 🧡

@hocd_sufferer I just get searching on the internet for one in my area, and emailed with them with very specific questions about how they treat ocd etc. Before going to a session.

@marinegal I know this has nothing to do with race, but i am a black kid and i dont think my mother would let me have therapy

@hocd_sufferer I'm really sorry you have to go through all of this at a young age, I'm a bit older so I was able to arrange and pay for all my therapy myself. Maybe you could get in touch with an OCD peer or try arrange a free call via this app to get a diagnosis? Sorry I cant help or advise any further, we are in quite different positions so I dont want to give you advice that doesnt apply to your situation. Best of luck, I hope you get the help you're looking for and theres always support out there 🧡

Happened to me too. CBT is amazing for anxiety and depression. I did it. But ERP gets to the root of OCD. The two together are a plus

I’m sorry this happened to you too! I’ve noticed at my cbt sessions she always tries to target my anxiety and we kind of avoid talking about intrusive thoughts

Awh thank you also for your reply, I’ve heard a lot recently about people having had issues with cbt therapists who didn’t specialise in ocd! I’m sorry this happened to you as well! I’m deffo going to take peoples advice and see a proper ocd therpists who does erp, thank you again for your help :) ✨
