please realize that you're not a bad person!! i'm not supposed to reassure but if you actually liked the intruisve thoughts or images then they wouldn't cause you distress. if you liked them then you wouldn't even think about it you didn't like them (does that make sense?). intrusive thoughts and images can be so hard and scary to deal with. what helped me was realizing that everyone gets them, ocd or not. they're so much more common than you think, especially intrusive thoughts surrounding harm. except people without mental illnesses can just brush past the intrusive thoughts or images as "weird" or "unwanted". people with mental illnesses (anxiety, ocd) tend to look more into what these thoughts mean. we want to "figure them out". but the thing is that they mean nothing about us. they're just thoughts (or intruisve images or intrusive urges). we don't think them (hence because they're intrusive) & they mean nothing about us. they're actually the opposite of our values. & some positivity for you - it's possible to get better! i have, and so many others (i don't have / am not diagnosed with ocd tho. just have had harm intrusive thoughts with great amounts of anxiety). i would recommend looking up some books on intrusive thoughts (brain lock is good i hear), or books on mindfulness! u can get these on amazon. also what helps the most is sitting with the anxiety and uncertainty that these thoughts give. instead of trying to "figure out" the thoughts. if we try and figure them out, that just fuels them so that they come more often & can become darker. let the thought flow through your brain to make room for other thoughts! don't pay extra attention to it. sit with the anxiety and uncertainty that these thoughts give and eventually after doing this for a while, when you do get an intrusive thought (because like i said EVERYONE gets them) you won't feel the need to dig deeper into it. instead you'll let it flow

just please remember that you're not alone / not the only one dealing with this <3 like i said, so many people get intrusive thoughts surrounding harm in this world. it's just most people don't worry about what they mean about them.

@coucou oh one more thing, if they become really deabilitating to where you can't function daily then i would say to go see a therapist who specializes in ocd. they've heard everything so they won't judge. it can be so hard but i know you will get better!!!

@coucou Thank you! But what scares me is that sometimes these thoughts sound so convincing, and they make me doubt of my intentions... idk but it’s so hard to get through the day with this burden on me. But thank you for your words, I’m currently into CBT therapy, don’t know if that one’s the most effective, but I’ll see how it goes, thank you <3

@Anonymous ive heard cbt is really good!! i hope it goes well<3 remember that good things take time but it will get better (i promise)💗 and that's normal to feel like the thoughts are convincing, that's just the intrusive thoughts again! just because they seem convincing doesn't make them any more likely to happen:)

@coucou I start NOCD therapy today. I’ve not been dealing with the thoughts for one month. I’ve read 5 books and have two therapist. One for CBT and one for ERP I guess. I’m hoping it gets better because everything anonymous spoke about I have been feeling. But I am doing a little better after reading about harm ocd/intrusive thoughts.

I am going through the same thing and feel like I’m dying inside. I feel like something is trying to convince me that doing the things will make the thoughts go away which obviously makes me feel even worse. Please know you are not alone. I can’t give any advice because I’m honestly in the worst of it right now, but I hope we can all find happiness and relief from this terrible disorder someday.

I’m so sorry you’re going through the same thing. And omg same, I feel like something is trying to convince me of doing the thoughts, and that is always reminding me of these thoughts so I consider them again. I understand the pain and discomfort you’re going through, I hope we can cope this <3 and in case you need to talk to someone, let me know, I’m here for you!

@Emm90 Hey I’m sorry but I decided not to, since it might turn into a compulsive behavior of reassurance seeking
