Mainly when I’m around knives I get panicked bc I fear of stabbing myself or someone. And with trains I’m afraid I’ll drive into one or walk in front of one.

it's like when you get an intrusive urge. it's not the same as a real urge because you don't actually want to do it. it's kinda hard to explain, but if you've had when then you'd know. just know they're the same as intruisve thoughts (unwanted). :)

Is it like, when you feel like you’re about to do it? Bc that has happened to me, I haven’t desired anything, but eventually I felt like I was about to do it😥

@Anonymous yes thats exactly what it is! it gives off a feeling / strong urge that you're going to go through with the thought. but when you look down at your feet you haven't moved at all. it's really scary when u first get them but with time they'll become less & less. i used to get them a lot and i didn't know they were a thing either, but they're more common than we think! they're not the same as regular urges tho so remember that!!❤️ sit with the uncertainty and anxiety they give - soon enough theyll fade away to where u won't get as many :)

@coucou Yes!! I know exactly how it feels!! What do regular urges feel like tho? Sorry for the question but, I’m not a native English speaker so I’m kind of confused

@Anonymous no worries! regular urges can feel the same but they're when you actually want to do it! for example, an urge to cut your hair. that's an urge that you WANT to do, so it's not an impulsive one. an intrusive urge can feel very similar except you don't actually want to do it, but it can be very scary because it can feel like you want to but in reality you haven't moved/haven't done the urge. :) and no worries, your english is great!!

@coucou sorry it's not an intrusive urge ** cutting ur hair can be impulsive lol but it's an urge that you want to do!

@coucou Thank you so much! Sometimes it has happened to me that I feel like I’m about to do it, and then I question myself: wait are you about to do it? Do you wanna do it? But it’s never been a desire, so I guess I’ve been feeling intrusive urges all along. Yeah I follow her on Instagram! Gonna look for the post, and thank you again you’re really sweet :)

@Anonymous no problem!! yes windsor is so good!! & also that's totally normal and common for intrusive urges!! to feel like you're about to do it, but if you're questioning whether or not you want to do it then that's a clear sign it's an intrusive urge and not a wanted urge!💗

@coucou Thank you!! Yes you’re right, but it doesn’t matter if I’m sure that I won’t do anything, my brain will still make me consider my thoughts again :( and idk if it’s normal but today I felt as if I was resisting myself from not doing anything bad :( idk why it felt like that, I know its not a desire but sometimes it feels like so, and I’m so confused, I feel like I need to figure out what’s going on 😥

@Anonymous that's normal as well!! dont try and "figure out" if the thoughts are real (tip: if you even think twice about the intrusive thoughts or urge, it isn't your real intention/desire. but also if you just let the urge or thought flow that's good too!!). intrusive thoughts and urges can be so tiring to deal with but you're not alone! sending love, u got this!!

Harm ocd urges Does anyone else have such strong harm ocd urges regarding your obsession that it literally feels like you’re holding back from doing it? I understand that harm ocd does indeed include urges, but can they rlly feel THAT real? Like at any time I could just “decide” to do it?

I am struggling right now with intrusive harm urges. They feel real and it feels like I am going to act any second. It feels like I have to hold myself back, which is a scary thoughts. I am trying so hard not to compulse, but does anyone have tips on what they do in these situations?

Can harm ocd thoughts appear like “i want” or “im going to” someone please lmk if they experienced this 😣
