No problem @nicolep123. I have a saying which helps me with my OCD. God knows that humans aren't perfect, and we know humans aren't perfect, so God gives us scenareos to make us better, not to make us perfect. I understand that you aren't homophobic, simply distressed at the idea that you think you aren't whom you thought you were, and that's okay!

@nicolep123 I believe so. At the beginning, I was a huge mess with my anxiety. I went through the whole OCD cycle of analyzing my thoughts, seeking reassurance, temporary relief and then repeat. I still go through that to this day. I have days where I don’t even doubt my OCD. But when it comes to my faith sometimes, i get confused.

@adrienne Why do you think your OCD is preventing God from doing what He wants to do in your life?

i know what you mean. my ocd is really trying to convince me that i’m just questioning my sexuality and that i’m actually bi. i hate it so much. i am also religious and here to talk if you need!

@nicolep123 yes me too i totally relate with you. after I made this post earlier today, I actually realized that it may just be my plain old OCD. i think one of my obsessions is that God wants me to be a particular sexual orientation. i hate how now it’s related to my beliefs because of course, it’s hard to differentiate your obsessive thoughts (ocd) and your faith.

well my ocd came about 4 months ago and it came out of nowhere. i’m obsessing over being bi and i hate it so much. the thoughts and feelings feel SOOOO real it’s so convincing. some days it’s like i don’t even know what i am . it’s the worst

@nicolep123 i obsess over being bisexual too. and i 100% feel you. there are times when it just feels so real to the point that you’re almost about to accept that you are. the funny thing is, the first time i “tried” to accept that i was bi, it made my anxiety even worst??? i think i really need to seek therapy

@nicolep123, God does not make make mistakes, and instead of speaking to you from your own mind, He will get people to speak to you. God knows that this makes you a stronger, more religious person, and He knows that you are not your obsessions, for He loves and cares for each person He has created.

Sorry guys but this is why I turned my back on god, religion and Catholicism when I was 21, and my OCD kicked in. So much of my hyper religious upbringing contributed. No way are my children having that. Have your spirituality sure, but organised religion is the work of the proverbial devil. Just look at the anguish you are in over a thought that god would punish you for, which you didn’t ask for, which is likely caused because of the ridiculous and frankly abusive approach to human sexuality. Not to mention apparently we sin ‘in our thoughts and in our words’. Preached as fact, written by man not god, and factual incorrect as modern neuroscience proves. Sorry but religion has a huge amount of pain and anguish to answer for. Huge amounts.

@Catlady i have thoughts about like my ocd isn’t real and that God is actually trying to reveal me what my true identity is. But then at times im like, no of course not. It’s OCD plain and simple. And so today, I was just reminded of my thoughts about it since the pastor was talking about letting Him to take control in your life and so on.

yes very hard. ocd and hocd in particular is the worst because of how real it feels.

@nicolep123 how are you doing with ocd? i’ve been struggling with it for 4 years after an old friend of mine who came out as lesbian and was hitting on me. i was filled with so much anxiety and discomfort and i then had ocd bc i was triggered to question my sexuality as a result. i was probably at the lowest point of my life but i’ve improved over time, thankfully.
