This was really well written, I enjoyed reading it :-) I definitely think something can be said about taking agency over the thoughts, as creating this analogical seperation between yourself and OCD seems to just reinforce the doubt - because whose to say the analogies are even truly representing the condition, etc. That’s not to say that OCD is alerting you to some sort of truth, because that’s not the case at all. The whole ‘OCD is an evil bully’ is helpful to a degree, but it can become redundant, in the sense that if you have OCD, surely you’re just implicitly calling yourself evil? It’s a disorder of thinking, and personifying thought processes seems childish - it definitely helped me when I was first learning about the condition. I completely appreciate how it helps though!! I’m likely overanalysing, but your post just made me think... Wishing you well anyway! ❤️

Hey Lou Lou, Thank you for that — I hear you : ) Seems like it’s about figuring out that fine balance, between “this is ME, it is MY disorder” and “this is a disorder”. I wish you so well too ♥️
