I deal with almost exactly this. I’ve always struggled with making close friends and in middle school I made friends with this one girl. We were essentially attached at the hip and hardly hung out with anyone else. Sometime in high school, she got a boyfriend and stopped hanging out with me altogether. It hurt me and left me alone for about a year bc I struggled with meeting new people. Now my SOOCD has convinced me I was just weirdly possessive of her and was actually obsessed with her and wanted to be with her. I don’t think this can be this case and I never questioned our friendship before now, but now I’m really worried.

Well glad to know I’m not alone in this at least, I was worried because I’d never heard of anyone having the same situation and I thought it meant my fears were true. But yup I feel the exact same way and I hate it because I’ve been dating my boyfriend for over a year and I hate the idea of me actually liking her. I’m so sorry if I triggered you tho!!

@anonanon No worries, you didn’t trigger me! It actually made me feel so much better to know someone else is dealing with the same thing. I haven’t heard too much about anyone else’s themes obsessing over specific people.

@Anonymous Okay good , you made me feel better too!! Mine jumps from “proof” to “proof” so this thing with my ex best friend is part of that sooocd cycle and I’m sure it’ll move on to something else soon and then come back then move on again 😅

I dealt with this as well! It’s annoying because even if we aren’t friends anymore i still think of her as a big role in my early teens. it sucks having hocd take things that once had good memories & warp it to a torture device. It used to trigger me a lot before but I’ve gotten over it so, I have hope you will too! Keep your head up girl & don’t let ocd get in the middle of your relationship, it’s a filthy liar :) I’ll be praying for you

Yup same for me too, I have her for one class and sometimes I feel like showing off just to say I’m well off but then I get anxious and spiral if that means I truly like her. But thank you so much and I’m glad you’ve improved!!

@anonanon it’s completely normal to care enough to want to show off to people from your past regardless of their gender but our ocd takes that & uses it as “proof” & I would say try to do physical activities if you feel yourself spiraling :) it helps your brain focus on something else besides your thoughts.
