If you have the thought “what if I die while driving” then go drive. If you’re terrified of death maybe write repeatedly on a piece of paper “people die.” If you want to get crazy go walk in the cemetery.

Your ocd is trying to make you so scared of death that you don’t live your life that you have. Don’t let that happen.

It is working. I know you said write “people die” on a piece of paper but will that even help since the thought is in my head the entire time anyway?

@Kendy228g I have honestly lost all my drive to do anything because it just seems like there is no point to anything—this is almost a worse feeling than the fear of death itself.

@Jen Have you ever tried meds? And shouldn't your therapist of done some cbt with you? Im not really sure how to fo it either.

@Kls2121 I’ve been on meds in the passed, but this ocd thought is new. Medication can’t stop a thought anyway, right?

@Jen I've talked to quite a bit of people about it. It seems it has helped for some. They say it doesn't get rid of the thought but helps you push it off more.

I just don’t understand how I’m going to get my interest in life back when this thought is playing in my mind 24/7. Before it would only pop up randomly and then I could go back to my life and enjoy things.

@Kendy228g I’m already seeing a therapist. But not one that specializes in ocd.

@Kendy228g Yeah? Do you have the same fear as I do? Or is it something else?

@Kendy228g My thing is that I can’t understand how I’ll ever get over a fear that is actually real and inevitable. I could understand getting over other fears, cause I have in the past.

@Jen Seeing an ocd therapist is a must! Talk therapy will not help ocd.

Just wondering are you or your sister on meds? Or do you guys just do therapy?

Hmm. I’d just like to get back to a point where I can enjoy and engage in life again. Where the thought only pops up in my head once in a while not once every minute.

@Kendy228g Thank you for being positive. But what if I can’t find an OCD therapist? I’m in Canada and can’t access the therapists on this site.
