I feel desperate , I have been dealing with the same obsessive thought over a month. I don’t know what else to do to feel better and make this tought go away . At this point I question my sanity and think I have something worse than ocd . I even question if I’m living in a dream . I am so scared of acting on my fought I feel sick . I went to the er but they told me I have anxiety and didn’t give me anything else . I feel obsess with being anxious and cannot let go . If you have any advised I will really appreciate it .

I haven’t been in therapy for long, but a lot of what I’ve learned so far has to do with accepting uncertainty. This means that, for example, you need to push forward with the idea that what you fear might be real. It’s scary, but the more you work on this acceptance, the less anxiety you’ll feel about it over time.

@PalmTree Sit with the discomfort, thoughts, urges, etc until the anxiety goes down by half what you originally felt. Keep on practicing this

Hi there, I also have harm ocd and have been dealing with the same intrusive thought for 7 weeks now. I can relate to so much of what you have wrote and want you to know that you are not alone. Are you currently seeing an OCD therapist?

that’s even better, compulsions make everything harder. but still, thoughts don’t mean anything, let them be there, easier said that done, but i thoughts do not equal actions. Don’t try to push your thoughts away or they’ll come back stronger, just sit with them and let them be there! I know it might be hard, but remember we all have all kind of thoughts, but usually people just don’t give meanings at them, and that’s what you should do.

Mental compulsions are still compulsions. Meaning if you are ruminating about the thought, that’s still a compulsion and will only make it stick around longer. @Anonymous I’m so sorry, you’re not alone tho, I know how hard it feels to be in this position. I know it can be so overwhelming, but trust me, the compulsions will only give you a brief relief, what’s best to do is to sit with uncertainty and discomfort, don’t try to figure anything out. I know it might feel even more real, and way more scary, but it will help you not to ruminate or perform any compulsion. Thoughts are just thoughts, let them be there.
