Same here! Curious how it plays out for you guys and how you spot it—can be super confusing for me—what is OCD and what is the cautioning of the HS to protect me...I have this mixed with sexual orientation OCD...which makes for a living hell...

Curious why you guys struggle with when it comes to God—I’m trying pinpoint my deepest fear when it comes to God—like I’ll miss something big if I don’t do it just right...I’m female, would not consider myself gay, but have a girl friend that I feel deeply for, and that has scared me, so I’ve had intrusive thoughts or wants, and I have felt like I need to cut this friendship off, and if I don’t, I’m not being smart or obedient. I’m “putting myself in the way of temptation.” Or That I’m not surrendered. But I really love this friend and want to keep her in my life and just work through my thoughts, just wondering if I’m being dumb if I do that. I then doubt if all this is OCD or just me not wanting to be obedient. Then I have shame and feel shitty. There’s my story—feel free to chime in! 🤷🏼♀️

@Overcomer Man, that’s exactly what I’m afraid of. I feel like that would be so awkward and hard to do! And feels like my heart is getting ripped out. Are you still friends with your friend?

I would make sure you are in contact with a psychologist who respects your faith and a faith leader while going through treatment- I also wonder if you had considered homosexuality-OCD? It can be important for Christians to have support from a professional in terms of psychology and in their faith community to help them distinguish what’s real and needs repentance/action and what’s OCD and needs to be addressed in a different manner. May God guide you to the truth and make you Holy according to His will!!

@EmWest And again- I am NOT an expert those are just some thoughts- I would very much encourage you to get in contact with a faith mentor you trust and a psychologist! May God heal and protect you of all the unrighteousness that plagues you! God Bless!!

@EmWest Thanks so much....you’re right—important to bring others into my process. Yes that’s the thing my themes have been HOCD & religious...so it can be confusing to navigate...it seems at times like shutting a friendship down could be a compulsion, because I’ve made compulsive decisions to confess, or dip out on a plan because I felt like it was “God’s will,” when looking back, I see it was OCD....

I want to write a book about faith and the cross of ocd. And how that looks with faith. I myself am Catholic but I am going to be writing open to all denominations. Because we are all brothers and sisters carrying our cross of OCD to get to heaven. Could you please comment a question you have? A struggle you have? or something may be a good topic to bring up in a book to represent or help those with ocd and searching in faith. Thank you.

Please help anyone else here with Religious ocd and is a Christian? My brain is going hay-wire and want to know I'm not alone... what do your thoughts say and how do you overcome compulsions? Im going through a rough moment and feel sick with anxiety and stiff. I want to obey God but my thoughts won't stop. I surrender to the Lord and then I have peace with the compulsions and they go away but the thoughts are the scary part please - is this spiritual or is it mental? Or is it both? Would love to hear a Christians opinion on this... because my thoughts latch on and won't dissappear but I know that the Bible commands us to take control of our thoughts and to renew our minds...yet God has grace for this and mercy for our every need... I know God is in control (completely) and my mind creates a lot of the issues for me without any spiritual stuff (it's a very powerful thing) but it's still scary. Lord help me, I surrender myself to you Jesus, counsel my soul and help me.
