SOOCD hit me 6 months into dating my husband, I recovered and got engaged, got married and now it’s back 5 years later. There is hope! I was seriously feeling good for such a long time. Not sure if anyone can relate to that.
Thank you for sharing!! That makes me happy
@Ope Ope -I know I feel you. I was bad this morning and did some ruminating even though my therapist has told me a zillion times not to....because I have OCD :-p my current strategy is going to be to throw myself into the hardest exposure I’ve done yet (trigger warning: read the stories of people coming out later in life, just writing those words still scares me) and just do it everyday for like 30 mins. I’m gonna do it over and over again. It can be hard to trust but even when I’m scared or uncomfortable I’m going to try my best to do that
@Ope Rumination is literally the hardest compulsion to give up because it’s always with you. I can stop researching but not ruminating is hard!
@Warrior113 Ruminating is the WORST. Never ending circle, you feel like you have to ruminate and figure it out even though you have been told that it is a compulsion and you don’t have to do it! It’s not something we’re going to figure out! A lot of days this actually makes me happy to think about I guess. But I know, no reassurance.
@anonymous10 I’ve been doing better about breaking through on that though (recognizing and noting desire to ruminate)
I’m at the point where I’m doing all kinds of exposures and sometimes the anxiety and uncertainty is debilating. I feel like the thoughts are true and don’t even know myself. But I am trying to trust the process.
Same!!!
I think working from home has worsened my OCD. I just went out to eat with friends and my OCD was the quietest it’s been in months. As soon as I got back in my car, the rumination restarted. Has anyone dealt with this?
@Ope It’s so interesting. I haven’t been out in months and suddenly felt like myself for an hour. I actually had my last onset of OCD during maternity leave (when I was also alone a lot).
@Ope It’s such torture!
@Ope Did you say your SOOCD started after you got married? But this isn’t your first theme?
@Ope It’s so tough. I think I’ve had some more mild ROCD too but this theme has been the absolute worst.
@Ope Hi hun, have you managed to recover from this? X
