@NOCD Advocate - Cesar O. Alright so I’ve been ruminating nonstop about the wrong things, the things I’m afraid of falling to. So one of my compulsions was to 24/7 try to retrain my brain to think the right way, but that only hurt me because I had done it wrong and now I had gotten myself into a bad mindset where I had conditioned my brain to see those things as more appealing than my faith. Even if I was trying to think of them in a negative light, they still seemed more natural because that was what I was used to thinking about. I still kept fighting, but it got to the point where sometimes it felt like I was just doing it because I knew to and not because I wanted to. I’ve started to focus on my faith more instead of the bad things, so if you can answer this, will those positive connections built towards bad things wear off as I begin to regrow my relationship with Jesus? I talked to a youth pastor some and that helped me quite a bit, I’m a nondenominational Christian.

@Anonymous I understand your confusion and frustration, I've been there before, nobody is perfect and God knows our weaknesses and strengths, one thing you need to understand is you have ocd, trying to pick on every single thing you think it's bad will lead to more compulsions and obsessions, understanding what sin is and what sin isn't is very important to continue to grow your faith, but don't get overwhelmed with all the other things, first start with this, God loves you as you are right now, not for who you think you should be, He loves you as you read this! Let Him love you with all your flaws and weaknesses, Jesus is with us always with open arms all we need to do is open ours too to Him. To answer your question, I'm not sure what positive connections to bad things you mean, but I'll tell you this, as your relationship with Jesus develops, you will notice what's really important and what isn't, you will notice what actually makes you happy and what doesn't. God wants you to be happy and free, free from the anxiety ocd brings, apply what therapy teaches if you had therapy and if you didn't I suggest you do. Imagine, God led you to this page not to just abandon you but to show you the way. Trust Him. God bless you friend.

Hi! I’m having a relapse and it’s very hard when I don’t do compulsions again specially because I’m having new blasphemous thoughts not like the once I started with when all of the religion ocd started and also I been dealing with memories of thinking you maight have said the aloud. how do you deal with relapse and also dealing with guilt and verses of bible that talk about blasphemy I get really bad when I see them:(

Which verses? Also guilt of what? Never forget you have ocd, you have a tendency to exaggerate obsessions and overthink. How well informed are you on your faith? I recommend looking up scrupulous anonymous and Father Tom Santa, also speak to your confessor if you're Catholic
