I feel you for sure. If I'm really stressed a kitchen cabinet swinging by me will trigger a response... It's like "really???!"

literally!! đđwhy is my groin moving or i have a feeling or âarousalâ when i am not aroused or attracted like it scares me to death
- Date posted

@hope It's because the mind has already attached to that thought so you having that arousal is not about you. It's just happening and you just have to curve it.

It's because we're already vulnerable, angry that this is happening to us and those are the things we need to focus on take a deep breath and speak kind to ourselves.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! But I remember reading that they come from the same place in the brain and the mind does not know the difference.

itâs so weird, i wonât be attracted to anything and iâll just have a bad intrusive thought or iâll be in a situation that makes me uncomfortable and i have a gronial response and it makes me even more terrified. đ

@hope Remember alot of that is fear based too! Because when youre anticipating it then fear takes over.

@hope If you can find my post I just did it about 20 minutes ago....don't confuse being kind speaking to yourself in word and thought to ruminating or reassurance...have positive dialogues with yourself don't ask the whys ever! The why is not important.

@hope Be aware of the dialogues you are having with yourself are they helpful? do they make you feel positive? Those are the "good" dialogues...don't allow yourself to do the am I a good person bad person dialogue that hurt me tons.

@elizabethcrowder3gmail thatâs super helpful, iâll definitely be aware of what i say to myself now. it gets so tiring ruminating 24/7, my pocd will say and put any image in my brain to make me panic and react. itâs so exhausting and then i ask myself 1000 times âwhat does this mean?!â âi must be evil!â etc. and i always feel horrible about myself. i definitely need to learn to be more kind to myself, thank you. :)

I'm starting to think that the fear and focus on this area, and trying to control it, is what makes it worse. During the height of the pandemic it didn't seem so bad. It's like our minds shifts gears..... Into something of equal or more fear inducing. Stay strong. I'm proof you're not alone.

YESS! You hit the nail on the head! Do not try to control it instead curve it counter attack it and it can be as simple as NOPE.

exactly, i am always aware of my body like SUPER aware so when i am around a child or see a picture of a child i am like âi am scaredâ and then i have a feeling of âgronial responsesâ i am in no way âattractedâ to any child, that literal disgusts me and terrifies me, so i would be so confused and feel evil and horrible. but noticing that i always ma hyper aware of my body definitely makes sense because i am always making sure and checking.

When I was young the fears manifested in having cancer, aids etc. I would always run to my dad describing symptoms. He always used to say "isn't it odd you started finding these after you started to think about the disease?" He wasn't reassuring me but was giving me a logical explanation. I get the same way around kids and I hate it. Before I developed GR, I'd find em funny and a joy to be around. I feel like years of my life have been taken from me. It's time we reclaim those years.

i can relate, i use to have symptoms of a heart attack because i was so hyper focused on my heart. chest pains, shortness of breath, palpitations etc. and now my brain tells me i am âwhat is ur attractedâ about family members, kids and itâs so gross, but ever since i developed pocd, now i have GRâs and itâs terrifying, never in my life have i ever ever had a GR around children and then every since i developed pocd now i have it and its so scary. i hope one day iâll be healed and can live my life and have kids of my own. :(
