This is all so relatable, thanks everyone for sharing. I've had to get rid of contaminated items entirely as a last resort and that's a pretty defeating feeling. Want to keep getting better at managing the discomfort.

Thank you! This motivated me a lot. I kinda believe the ocd that it is contaminated.. (it's because I touched something that could be contaminated and then immediatelyI touched that sweater) and it would be so easy to just not wear it and wash it. But I also know that it's OCD and a healthy person wouldn't see the sweater as dirty. I'm still trying to wear it. :)

@RedLeaves It's exactly like that! Thanks for your support. :) I try to think that. It's true, the worst outcome would be that I will feel so dirty that I won't feel comfortable anymore and panic because of it. I could face that.. It's even harder for me right now to wear it because I try to wear it in bed (and this is my cleanest place where I wan't to feel perfectly clean and comfortable).

Yeah I'm also like a perfectionist about stuff that is clean and should stay clean like my bed as a safe place. That's good advice! I guess I can do that. And also, the sweater already touched my bed and I could handle it, but wearing it in bed would be a bigger step. Maybe I will wear it.. but not sure yet, otherwise I will pick a top as you said :) Thank you! It's good to talk with someone who has similar thoughts. Wishing you positive energy too! We really can do it.

Just wanted to say that I finally did it! Feels kinda scary but also good. I only did it because of your help. Take care too.

@RedLeaves Thank youu :) my bed didn't feel contaminated the next day and it was all good. But then the next days this week I struggled a lot.. (not with my bed and the sweater) I couldn't avoid any compulsion :/

I feel you my pillow fell on the floor today and I put it back on my bed with less anxiety. Before I would’ve started panicking. My brain is less panicked now ever since I got my cat which is nice.
