I hear you Ope. I am married with 2 kids. My wife has been supportive but I can tell it is wearing on her. That is another reason I am here.

@Ope Same here Ope. I have been married 10 years. I am 41. I had 1 sexual thought/urge when I was 25 with the same sex but was able to deal with it. Now I am dealing with more than one thought but actually was diagnosed with OCD as it has been consuming me.

Last year I went to Rogers Behavior Out Patient Program for my HOCD. I went in thinking and fighting that I am straight and through the ERP I learned about sexual fluidity. Me, trying to be rational about my present thoughts accepted that I maybe bisexual. I am here now at NOCD because I feel like OCD is getting the better of me and erasing all my good memories with the opposite sex

@Ope Just wanted to jump in and say you and I are going through a very similar experience! Exact same fear. Also been married to my husband for one year and want more than anything to be with him and be confident and happy in my marriage. We’ll get through this, somehow

For me it was a traumatic event at work that I obsessed about. Then my OCD jumped and attacked my relationship.

@Anonymous I totally get it. Remember feelings are not facts. Another thing I like to remember is a quote I found at the beginning of my ocd journey that I always come back to. “Intuition and anxiety are not the same. Intuition rarely feels scary” Keep answering you’re ocd’s questions with maybe? Maybe not? It feels so counter intuitive because all you want to do is figure it out but remember, there’s nothing to figure out. You answer 100 questions and ocd had 101. Every thought you have… maybe….maybe not

@ClaraJ but i’m so scared bc i have like imagined it and i get so anxious but it’s always there. i’m terrified bc i can’t just sit here with out imagining a part that i don’t have and being anxious about it. my face is like burning hot bc i’m so scared.

@Anonymous I understand. I’ve been there. I thought I’d have to end my marriage and leave my son and husband because I wasn’t living my truth. I only started to thinking clearly and feel like myself again once I leaned into the uncertainty. Right now the scariest thought is “what if I’m trans” right? Well so what if you are! What if im gay? I don’t want to be so I won’t be. You don’t want to be trans so you don’t have to be. Our brain likes to make it seem so complicated. It’s not. Maybe you are maybe you aren’t. Maybe we all are maybe we aren’t? I can’t prove im anything! No one can. Just sit with the uncertainty. Take a breath. Press the SOS button. That’s my go to when I feel like it’s all too heavy.

@Ope I’m so happy to hear that!! I struggle with the same thing. It TORTURED me. Truly one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life. But right now im in a good place so im here for anyone that feels like they can’t see the light. It can feel so dark, confusing, and lonely. It’s crazy what our minds can convince us of

It seems like you are looking for reassuarance as I have the same problem. I do feel your pain though as I have been dealing with HOCD for the last 2 years and hoping to get support for my OCD through NOCD. I do feel like the longer I have been dealing with this it , it has changed me and my sexuality. Stay strong and try to live in the presence.
