Been there....any thought that doesn't align with who we are can be distressing- whether or not it felt like it was part of the natural flow of consciousness. Can bring up a lot of feelings of shame for me. It helps me to remember that if I find a thought distressing or anxiety-inducing (no matter "how" I thought of it) then it is almost surely an OCD thought/reaction and can be dealt with as such. Hope you find some peace!
