I wish u the best *
Thanks for sharing your current experience. I would say that you should be very proud of yourself for 1st noticing the anxiety and discomfort. I can’t say that I have specific experience with this situation, however do have experience with OCD themes such as harm and relationship. This is a perfect time to as I like to say "practice" ERP. The most important part being the response prevention. When you mention obsessions, or anything at all, when this type of situation occurs and we are in environments in which we are organically exposed to distress, or triggered by literally anything, attempt to use this as an great opportunity to practice doing the work! Noticing, and then getting on with your day with no analyzing, interacting, or taking the bait of dwelling! Easier said than done, but truly powerful. This allows for two things; showing yourself you can handle and tolerate it, and also letting your body know that although you feel uncomfortable you are willing to keep doing whatever it is you are doing (hopefully enjoying a beautiful day) and getting on with whatever it is you were doing prior! This is the foundation! I hope this helps and good luck with therapy. NOCD therapists are great and can help to teach us how we can help ourself with tools and techniques.
The dog is adorable! I’m so excited for you to start your journey with ERP. To give some helpful advice - recovery is not linear. Expect days in your journey where you will still struggle. You have to learn to really lean into the anxiety and take it day by day. The community is always here for you and you can post anytime when you need help! I hope to see your posts in the future during your journey 😄
