Hi!!! So I have Harm OCD. I had it really bad about 10 years ago. I didn't want to go to work but forced myself. I think honestly that was really good for me because I made myself go instead of building walls. I will tell you over time though I stopped going to church bc it was part of my avoidance. I slowly went back and exposed myself to it. I would definitely recommend NOCD therapy. Also, a lot of the medication that helps with OCD has been generic for AGES and the prices are low compared to a lot of brand name medication. With not having insurance if therapy isn't an option due to $$$ there are amazing books I could recommend. Overcoming intrusive thoughts is great, there's one with Harm OCD. I haven't researched magical thinking. Definitely make a list of the things you're afraid of starting with the smallest/least afraid then work up. Conquer each fear at a time starting with the smallest. Never give up hope. The bible also talks a lot about fear and anxiety and helped me a TON. I wouldn't be where I am today without Jesus and the word of God. Truly. If you want scripture I can send some your way too. God bless - hold on to hope it does get better. Just takes time.

What a thoughtful comment! Please do share any quotes or tidbits you’ve got, I am jewish so I’m sure we will find a lot of overlap there. I love the verse in psalms (Of the Million, I cannot remember which verse in psalms haha) that says “and when I am afraid I will put my trust in you”. I think you are right about the job…I have been suspecting lately that just doing it even if it “”tortured”” me would be better than the status quo. I think inaction is the food of obsession so I will take your advice and get my feet on the ground running.

@giaparmer Also a verse in Isaiah - do not fear (personalize with your name) for I am with you. Do not be dismayed bc I am your God.
