Put yourself first. If the medication isnt serving you, dump it. If youre happy, school and the rest will soon follow :-)

I’m on Prozac, it really changed my life. I’m on 30mg now and feel awesome. Took me a couples meds to find one that worked though, it’s a lot of trial and error. No side effects that I can think of, it just takes longer to finish during sex lol

I took prozac for a total of 2 weeks the first couple days I felt really spaced out and tired after that I felt fine apart from struggling to stay asleep at night. I only stopped taking them because I felt like I was struggling to breathe but I realised after I stopped them that it was my anxiety that made me feel like that. Everyone has a different experience on them you might take them and have no side effects at all. I think if your going to take them try to do it at the weekend so you’ll have a couple days to see how you’ll feel before you have to go to work

Hi. I used to take Prozac and it didn’t totally work for me. I’m now on sertraline (Zoloft). However, I always recommend taking meds at night because that can lessen the side effects that you’re aware of. Obviously don’t do this if you’ve been instructed to take at a different time. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Thanks Kbug. I also heard it can cause insomnia though so morning is better? Before you switched to Zoloft, how bad was your experience? Was it so bad that it got in the way of your school and work? For example, today I was tired and I struggled getting my school work done and I struggled at work too so I can’t imagine if it was worst and something I can’t control. If it’s just minor things I can deal wit it. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

It was not that bad, no. 10 mg is also a super low dose, so you’re unlikely to experience really extreme effects. My main symptom was nausea which I found I could combat by taking the meds after I ate breakfast. It also just got better over time. I didn’t experience fatigue from Prozac at all, so I don’t have advice for that. The main reason I switched was because it didn’t really have an effect on my ocd noticeably, but that obviously differs greatly from person to person.

Thanks all! Perhaps I’m being overly cautious here but I worked so hard to get my grades up and also I’m doing well at work but both requires a LOt out of me (in addition to dealing with ocd) so I cannot have Prozac side effects jeopardize it. I guess in a way I’m very scared but I have to take the chance to get better.

Thanks MB2116. I’ll definitely consider. For the first two weeks of being spaced out, how did you manage? Did you need naps and did you feel like it got in the way of work and school? I feel like if I were tired for that long my grades will drop and I won’t do well at my job either. So hard!

I have a question My OCD has felt almost invisible the past few weeks and now that is starting to stress me out a lot. Right now I am at a point in my treatement where I was asked if I would like to take medication. I told my therapist this week that I would like to try the medication based on how miserable I feel in during OCD flare ups. But now my brain always tells me that I only go throught this treatement etc. to seek attention and that I am just dramatic and should be ashamed of myself for wanting to take this medication. So now I am doubting if I should take the medication or not. Any advice?

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
