Can you have intrusive thoughts that don’t cause anxiety and you have to convince yourself they’re intrusive and you don’t want them ? They caused anxiety and sometimes still do, but sometimes I just get them constantly and they just feel real without anxiety. Is this Ocd?

i know the exact feeling and thought pattern that you mean. i am diagnosed with OCD and it happens to me often!!! intrusive thoughts are a strange and tricky thing for me to describe and understand,, so if u have a therapist or psych provider i would def bring it up. best wishes <3

yes!!! i think what you are talking about is "backstabber anxiety". basically, anxiety about not having anxiety about an intrusive thought. i hope i got it right, if it's what you mean, it happens to me a lot and it's definitely OCD!!

I’ve never heard it be called “backstabber anxiety” I’ve only heard “backdoor spike” but honestly I like backstabber anxiety better

@linds💕 ohh you're right that's the correct name!! i don't remember where i heard backstabber anxiety but it's a nice way to call it lol

I don’t have anxiety about not having anxiety or at least I can’t identify when I do. Is that normal ?

@Anonymous I don’t get anxiety about not having anxiety too sometimes, sometimes I feel nothing at all, sometimes I feel relief, sometimes I feel like I want the content of my thoughts. It’s just ocd, doing what ocd does, tricking you into thinking your subtype is real. Maybe this is real, maybe it isn’t🤷🏻‍♀️you’re more than capable of dealing with that uncertainty 💕

I feel like I don’t when I’m having anxiety and I’m sometimes trying to assure myself that I do get anxious from the thoughts.

I don’t know when*** It hasn’t always been that way I just feel like I’m denying thoughts that feel real without feeling anxiety
