Ever since my Intrusive thoughts and anxiety has gone through the roof I’ve been feeling like that every now and then, it seems to be pretty common though, I’ve read a few people who have mentioned similar things.

@Bl997 Yes!!! It sucks, but I know several can empathize with us. I’ve felt depersonalized with a flare of derealisation for around 7 months now and it is hard.

@ac (she/her) Any tips for dealing with it? Mine tends to come and go? I think it’s because of all the trauma we face with intrusive thoughts, it’s our body’s reaction to dealing with it

@Bl997 I totally agree! It’s so hard to just “allow it to be there” when it can be so uncomfortable, but I have read and found that not fueling it or trying solve it is best. Apparently it can be a “protective mechanism” due to stress, anxiety, etc. just like you mentioned!

@ac (she/her) That’s so helpful, thank you, I’m glad I’m not the only one. I hope 2022 is a better year for us 🙌🏻

@ac (she/her) And also yeah, I’ve found the same, just let it pass and usually I start to feel better after a few hours or a day

i have been diagnosed with OCD & generalized anxiety disorder. for some reason, i’ve been very hyper aware of everything. like the way i talk, the way i see the world, how certain things sound/look/feel, and it’s very distressing. i feel like the hyper awareness makes me afraid of things? like for some reason, my mind attached to cartoons, and i was hyperfocusing on it, and got extremely scared, like scared of the cartoon for no reason? i’ve done this a lot, and i get scared i have psychosis or schizophrenia, or something that makes you afraid of things for no unknown reason. i feel so scared that this is my new normal…. im heartbroken. so many what if’s. did i just ruin my own life?? 💔

Not necessarily asking for reassurance and I know I’ve mentioned this here before but my OCD has been affecting my cognition seemingly. I’ll forget small things or put things in odd places sometimes, or mix up words - things like that. Obviously this triggers me to be like “Alzheimers/dementia.” Can anyone relate? And if you recovered what did you do for it?

Whenever anyone starts to feel like their thoughts are less triggering or they feel a moment of happiness/ relief OCD tells you that you want the thoughts back or you actually like having the thoughts and maybe thats just the person I really am? I feel like im going insane😢
