A GP is not qualified to diagnose OCD. You need to see a therapist that specializes in OCD and can teach you ERP. I did treatment through this app. I scheduled a 15 minute call. Discussed my symptoms and billing. Then you get matched with a therapist. My treatment was covered by insurance, so I paid $30 per session. The first session with your therapist is a 90 minute OCD assessment. The therapist will ask you questions about your symptoms and other stuff related to OCD. At the end, the therapist will give you a diagnosis if you meet the criteria. It is normal for people with OCD to doubt they have it. I went into my assessment prepared to hear I didn't have OCD. Instead, I was diagnosed. If you are diagnosed, you start treatment and learning ERP. If not, at least you will know. The assessment sounds scary, but its really not. The more honest and open you are, the more your therapist can help you. ERP is not fun, but it helps so much.
Thank you so much for all that info! I'll definitely go through the app, I've heard so many stories about people getting misdiagnosed through the GP. It's good to hear that its normal to doubt I have it, I keep going through stages of total denial. Thank you for all your help. 🙂
