I want to be with my ex. Or does my current gf remind me of my ex. Is this a rebound. Do I love my current gf more. Things like that and it’s annoying but I know it’s ocd but still stressful
I get similar thoughts but with someone in my past who I was close with. We never dated but we were pretty close and he was nice to me but he was also pretty controlling and toxic. The thing was I might have had feelings for him and I do care for him but I don’t want to be associated with him and my thoughts keep telling me I do and that I am destined to be with him since I can’t forget him (he played a significant role in my teen years). My current partner is the complete opposite. He’s so nice, sweet, and isnt controlling at all. Although we were not in a confirmed relationship, we both know we like each other and I could see us being long term.
@starry duck I understand what you mean. It’s hard to just accept those thoughts but it’s what we are called to do. Accepting doesn’t mean we like it or it’s true.
@Anonymous I know but I’m just scared because my thoughts are centered around that one person in my past. And I feel like that’s a sign. What if I have to leave my current partner??? And we ARENT in a confirmed relationship yet, we are still at the beginning. I’m just scared :/
@starry duck I understand. I can’t reassure you but love is a choice. Try not to resist the thoughts but still do things with your current boyfriend. Don’t avoid him if you love him. Our mind is trying to find certain and there isn’t any.

Yes!! My only other relationship was with a woman so I get fears that I'm not attracted to my boyfriend because he's a guy. I am trying to move past this and exist in the present

I’ve done this with an ex who neglected and cheated on me. I read some of your other comments about feeling “destined” because of how constantly you think about them. I struggle so deeply with this to the point where I addressed it with my partner and he encouraged me to get closure with my ex. It only made things worse. There have been some other instances that make me feel like the universe is telling me that me and my ex are destined and of course makes my anxieties worse. Especially when my relationship is going well I’ll remind myself that I should be worried about these lingering feelings for my ex. And it of course makes me question my current relationship.
Yeah I was very rude towards the guy in my past but he also made me very uncomfortable and always wanted to be in my business. My thoughts keep telling me that I should text him or something but we both had a very toxic friendship so I don’t think it would be a good idea— I feel so guilty. I feel like I am gonna hurt my partner
@starry duck Right there with you. All I can say is you definitely do not need to connect with him. I know the feelings can be so strong. At one point I’ve even considered seeing a hypnotist to change the way I thought about him. I never followed through. But just know you aren’t alone and you don’t need to reconnect with that ex. Especially given your toxic past.
Is rocd just imaginary thoughts what ifs with no real reason ? Or could you have rocd with real relationship issues that do bother you in your relationship also ? Even before rocd symptoms started ? Like betrayal or a potential deal breaker ? Constantly thinking about the betrayal and one other thing which is making me question love and compatibility so I’m not sure if it’s just the wrong relationship or rocd
Heyy so has anybody ever experience in rocd like ur scared that what if u liked somebody else or had a crush on somebody else even tho u never had no romantic or sexual feelings for anybody else only ur bf but u still question urself?
My ex boyfriend broke up with me last summer and it was really rough on me even thought we only dated for a little while. He treated me terribly but I guess I wanted it to work. However during the fall I was healing well and met my current boyfriend. I knew him as a kid and we reconnected and started dating. It’s the most WONDERFUL relationship ever and I love him so much. However for the past couple months, on and off, I have been obsessively thinking about my ex, to the point of feeling so sick to my stomach. Just the thought will do it. I have been stopping myself from checking his instagram because that just makes it worse. I do not want me ex back at all and I am so happy now. I recognize these thoughts as intrusive and hurtful. I just want them to stop and be in the moment. Has anyone had a similar experience? What did u do? Also, I want to tell my boyfriend about this but I am unsure on how to do so.
