so my knuckle may have briefly touched this woman’s back when i was walking past her and playing with my earbud, i’m constantly scared of touching people because it makes me feel like a creep. she didn’t seem bothered at all but i am nervous wondering it may have been slightly intentional.
I've had the exact same thing happen to me last year, only my elbow made contact with her behind. I really don't like thinking about this too much because I just ruminate. It hasn't happened ever again and I'm more than okay with that, so I just try to move on
Can you ask yourself if it’s you or the OCD asking if it was intentional?
I know this isn't directed to me but I could do this and it would be extremely triggering. But is that the point?
@BigGip09 Yes. To be triggered and feel anxious until it gets better. If it’s way too much breathe until that helps first.
@Erin P Well all I did was ruminate on said event and it almost made me want to sob. How do I get through with negative thoughts about myself as a whole?
@BigGip09 I’m really sorry this ended up being a rumination for you. My original comments were directed at Mitz since they were in the midst of ruminating. I thought I was just answering a question for you about when rumination occurs. Again I’m so sorry this caused you to pain. I mistaken thought since you moved on before that my advice would be helpful for the future. I’m not sure how best to get through the negative thoughts. What works for me is thinking about what friends would say about me, what I would say about myself if I didn’t have OCD and I were my friend, being kind, focusing on the positive. But I’m not sure how to help you tonight.
@BigGip09 I thought about this overnight and if negative thoughts about yourself are because OCD is trash talking you, I found The Noise in Your Head Reid Wilson YouTube- the first short video- helpful. I also benefited from CBT concepts re: negative thinking styles -I used to do all 10. @Erin P Oh no!! That's not what I meant, Erin. I'm sorry, I did y mean to make it sound like that. What I was saying was as much as I didn't want to ruminate about this event, I ended up doing so anyway. Long before I saw Mitz's post and your response. Sorry for the confusion. I've been doing better now with trying positive self talk and self care. Thank you for the helpful link! I really appreciate that. I just want you to know that you didn't do anything wrong here.
