Therapist gone without warning?
So I had an appointment with my therapist on Wednesday, and we booked appointments all the way until April. Totally normal, no mention of anything. Later THAT SAME DAY I got a message and email that she's no longer with NOCD. Has this happened to anyone before? Is it a mistake? I can't get a hold of anyone and I'm very confused.

I honestly am not surprised that it happened. She probably wasn't allowed to tell patients that she was leaving. You can just go on the website and make an appointment with another therapist. That would trigger my abandonment issues though. The situation could have been handled better by the therapist and NOCD.
My first NOCD therapist told me she was leaving more than a month in advance, that's what makes it so odd.

I'm in the same boat as you! I actually posted about this last night. I had an appointment with my therapist on Thursday, and like you, we also had appointments lined up until April. She even said "See you next week" at the end of the session and encouraged me to email her pictures of my drawings (we created a drawing exposure for this week). Then, yesterday, I got the same email saying that she's no longer with NOCD. I know exactly how you feel. I'm also confused and I also can't get a hold of her. I tried to email her but I got a notification saying the email address was deleted (it was her NOCD email). It's very confusing, especially considering that everything was normal and we had such concrete plans for next week and this month. :(
Let me know how it goes for you! It's basically the same for me, talked about seeing me again, made a new exposure plan, sent me a worksheet I was going to fill and send before exposures... and then later that same day it happened. Maybe it's a glitch? I'm trying to be optimistic
I tried to email after reading you said that and the same thing happened. Looks like she's really gone. I hope it wasn't her decision, and was something NOCD did, because it would hurt being blindsided by this
@girlanon Wow, I'm sorry to hear that 😢 It feels so much worse when it's without a warning and when you have plans to see them again. I will let you know how it goes, feel free to let me know as well!
@girlanon I'm sorry to hear that 😔 I also thought maybe it was a glitch when I first heard, until I tried emailing. I agree, I really hope it was out of her hands and that it was NOCD's decision. I would feel so hurt, too, if it was her call. But hearing your story and considering mine, I really doubt it was our therapists' decision. I can't imagine any therapist would treat their patients like this, so it must be NOCD. I just wish they would allow us closure, or at least the option to contact them outside of NOCD.
@elenavocado I agree, it's very abrupt, there's definitely a better way to handle this. I just can't imagine why NOCD would get rid of her, she's the best therapist I've ever had
@girlanon I completely agree. Yes, I feel the same way, I can't imagine why, either. It baffles me. She's the best therapist I've ever had as well! Could it be we had the same one? Mine had the initials AJ

@girlanon Wow! 😱 It seems like we did! It makes sense, considering the timing and the descriptions of her. She really is an amazing therapist, the best I've had. In that case, would you like me to tell you the name of the website I found?

@girlanon That's great! I found her at "Mindful Comeback Therapy". Unfortunately it said appointments are only available for residents of Canada, but hopefully we could at least get in touch with her by email. Did you find her anywhere else?
@elenavocado I'm Canadian, I didn't realize she did therapy on here for people who aren't Canadian
@girlanon Oh that's great, then! I'm in Norway, so I'm really hoping she'll somehow be able to continue seeing me. I have an update! She actually responded to my email today!! I was actually able to get in touch with her! Did you try as well? 😁

Unfortunately this has happened to me before, she was actually my 3rd therapist after I had to change therapists twice because they both left NOCD, too. I told my therapist this during our first session, and she even specifically said she didn't have any plans of leaving NOCD anytime soon. This all makes me wonder if there's something that NOCD decided for her, and maybe she didn't even know. Nevertheless, I know exactly how you feel and I'm so sorry you're going through this, too. It's really disheartening and confusing, and it really makes you feel abandoned. I wish NOCD allowed us to contact our therapists outside of NOCD, and that they could at least give us closure about the why. Wishing you good luck and I'm sending you strength 🤗

Update: I googled my therapist's name, along with her title, and I found a website to what seems to be her own online therapy clinic. It had her email address, so I just sent her an email - I have no idea if it's still active or if she will see it at all, not to mention the fact that it's a weekend, but I'm crossing my fingers 🤞🤞 Maybe you could encounter your therapist somewhere online as well?

I'm currently visiting my third therapist in the last three years and none of them have helped me so far. None of them have given me any type of diagnosis so I'm not even sure if I actually have OCD, and it's driving me mad. The last session I had, I even felt like it made things worse rather that it helped. I wanna feel that trust to my therapist that you should feel to be able to share your emotions but I don't. I feel like its not going anywhere, like it's useless. Lately I've been thinking about finding a therapist here at NOCD, I've even looked up some specific people and they all seem really nice and sweet.
i’ve been with the same therapist for about a year and half now and we’ve built such a close relationship and she knows everything about me. she said shes leaving NOCD in a few weeks and i don’t know what to do. i can either stop therapy or get a new therapist. neither of those options sound good to me. she knows everything and i don’t feel like talking to anyone new but i’m so upset that i can’t have her anymore. what do you guys recommend doing in this scenario. i’m so heartbroken and really don’t wanna talk to anyone else (especially cause i hate change!) pls help
me and my therapist on here were supposed to have one last session but they switched my profile to this other therapist way too fast. im so fucking sad. i honestly want to drop out of nocd now. it doesn’t seem like my new therapist will be helpful and she basically told me that she doesn’t know if the prolonged exposure will work for me. i hate this so much. it’s taking everything not to completely drop out of this shit and delete the app. i want my old therapist back
