Is everyone percieves reality differently then...

--> what is real? People can rest with "everyones reality is different, i believe what i want" but that makes me bad, like i can choose what i believe,what will make me happy,thats egotistic. What is the truth? Even the words of God(bible) is percieved differently by people, then how do i know what is God actually saying? It feels like i just make a reality that makes me feel good but thats not reality.

Personally nature brings me back to reality when I feel confused by it or feel like I’ve lost touch with reality. When I’m in nature I know that the ground below me is real, the sky above me is real, and I am real. I also like to keep an open mind and understand the different perspectives that people have because it reminds me that our perspectives aren’t different realities but rather just different ways of thinking. And different ways of thinking are what make us all unique. I still get anxious about the topic at times but these are the coping mechanisms and thought processes that have helped me.

Omg I feel the same way! I used to be able to go to church and not think twice about theology or deep philosophical questions because I was there because it made me feel better about myself … but since OCD I can’t even sit in church without trying to figure out what the “truest” form of Christianity is and what if I am wrong… I can’t just sit present in the moment

@Anonymous I hope that makes sense… I just feel so uncomfortable and frustrated that I can’t settle on my own “truth” because what if I’m wrong and I’m living delusional

@Anonymous Yeah, i was praying for getting help for ocd, and God gave me help and at first i thoughts its so great, but both was help that doesnt helped me believe in God. My therapist is a spiritual man and he said to me to read about non-duality and that made me so confused, i can see its not from God, and spiritual people doesnt believe in God as another identity, they think its a metaphor or say "God is all" like we are Gods. And my psychologist isnt christian either, she always told me i should have sexual life now and then i wouldnt have sexual intrusive thoughts, cause they come from repression... None of it came from God and now im confused, why God made me go here if it just made me confused more about what is real.

Thats what makes me anxious... if everything is a perception then what is real? To me "nothing is real" doesnt make me relaxed...

@Anonymous Maybe my ocd theme switched to existential ocd... can it happen to have both existential and harm ocd at the same time? I had these thoughts before about what is reality and if theres none or if its bad then whats the point and all that..

For Christians

I been going to church looking for answers about my false memories if they are even false and overall ocd. Everything that I'm learning about ocd ultimately I get told that it's due to sin and that's why I feel overwhelmed and have the urge to confess on things idk if they are real or not. I just dont know whats my truth my mind Is saying one thing but I need a lot of confirmation if what im thinking its true thats why i been seeking confirmation going to church. Would appreciate a response or if anyone is going through this 🙏

Can someone please help me?

I think when people are saying OCD is egodystonic is really triggering me and I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I’m going through a really bad relapse and right now I’m trying to figure out if my thoughts are truly egodystonic, like I how do I know I won’t act on them, how can I trust my emotions and everything. I feel really confused and I feel like I don’t know who I am anymore or how I carry on with life because it’s so long and I’m so unsure of everything that’s going on in my head. Like how do I know that this is OCD and true desires/urges. I’m so confused.

Is it supposed to feel so real ?

Is ocd supposed to feel like a genuine belief ? I see or hear some people saying things like « I know it’s not true but …. » while I personally don’t « know that it’s not true » I feels genuinely real and I even find evidence for it
