Anyways, aside from my last post, I wanted to come here and let y’all know that I’m basically recovered from SO-OCD! I have maybe one episode every two months, and that’s been going on for two years. Wanted to open up this thread and offer the floor for anyone who has questions for me and my experience!
When your SO-OCD was in advanced stage,did you feel feelings/sensations in addition to thoughts?
@KateMkp Hi! Ugh, for sure. While I’d never orgasmed for real before when it kicked in, I worried many times that I was experiencing that. I also felt “butterflies in my stomach” around the gender I worried I was attracted to. But, worst for me, was the fact that my SO-OCD latched onto someone, and took every bit of joy I felt around her to be attraction. Hope this helps!

I have intrusive thoughts and feelings and urges that make it feel so real, but at least it isnt real… but when it comes to my real events (pleasuring myself to porn thats the opposite of my sexual identity when i was 14 because i didn’t know what sexuality was and i was addicted to explicit content, tricked into experimentation by a so called friend when i was 14, pleasuring myself to explicit content that I thought was aligned with my identity (straight dude watching anime women with male privates having explicit relations-with-other-women) explicit content thinking its between two ladies when i was 16-17, etc…) the real events hurt so much and my hocd makes it feel like im not anxious enough… what do i do…?
@Givenup Hey, I totally feel this. OCD tries to take past events and twist them in a way that seems logical to “proving” your theme. If you feel confidence in the fact that these past events are irrelevant to your overall sexuality, then you can try to treat the thoughts as you would treat any other intrusive thought. Accept the uncertainty, try to tell yourself it doesn’t matter whether you’re straight or gay. I totally know what you mean by having past experiences that validate your intrusive thoughts, but I know you can beat them. You got this!
@OCDumb >:( I keep getting intrusive thoughts of "im gay" or "im bisexual" or telling people that "i am" when i dont ever want to ever be homosexual or bisexual in any way... its not who i am... its not my identity...
I have groinals, how to beat that?
@krstass Hey! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a ton of experience with groinials, so I don’t have a ton of advice. However, I think keeping in mind that it’s just a sensation caused by your fear is helpful. Best of luck 💕
How did you overcome it?
@Going to fight OCD Medication played a big role for me. I know that lots of people tend to say ERP is more important than meds, but I actually had the opposite experience. After being put on the right medication, I feel I was given the ability to take my thoughts less seriously. I also took place in a type of therapy called ART (accelerated resolution therapy), which I would recommend looking into if you’re curious. Both of those combined really really helped.
Did you deal with false attractions towards the same gender?
@Anonymous Hi! Oh, god, yes I did. Something I’ve noticed about this theme is that it tends to latch onto one person in particular. At the time, my female friend (who we’ll call Jane) and myself would call each other every Saturday and watch a tv episode. I was so scared that this particular person was someone I was in love with, to the point where I kept making excuses to not talk to her those days. Forcing myself to talk to her, and even coming clean about my obsessions, really helped, and I was able to talk to her again. However, I did experience a certain worry whenever I did. My recommendation is to treat it like any other intrusive thought. It’s your fear talking; not you.

Its not the problem anymore, now the problem is when im with my gf, and we cuddle i get though and get groinal
Did you struggle with loss of libido ?
@Mia Mia Yep! Not just libido, but a loss of feelings for the other sex in general. There were times where I had to force myself to sit down and fantasize about the person I had had a crush on before the intrusive thoughts began. It was hell.

Yes
And had peaceful periods of time, but my dad passed away few days ago, and my birthday was one day after funeral and i think it came out that way instead of sadness

@Noodles123 Sure! Here’s a few. -I had some incredibly ridiculous intrusive thoughts. For instance, I was playing animal crossing on a regular basis at the time. I thought that my avatar wearing pants instead of a skirt was a butch lesbian thing to do. I also had seen somewhere that using the ‘little spoon’ was gay, so I always made myself use the ‘big spoons.’ A really weird thing that worked for me, however, was writing a PARODY OF YMCA and listing my stupidest intrusive thoughts. It both took my mind off things, while also making light of thoughts I was genuinely scared of. You don’t have to write full parodies, though! Just taking the melody to, say, Jingle Bells or Happy Birthday and singing your thoughts has a similar effect! Would you like any more experiences and coping mechanism?

I've suffered with OCD for 50 years with many different themes. SOOCD is my primary theme, and no matter which theme I may be in the middle of it always comes back to SOOCD. I'm back in therapy because after a couple of really good years, I've been in the middle of a flare up. My new therapist with NOCD, recently asked me what my core fear about homosexuallity is. I can't seem to answer that. The only answer that I can come up with, is that it is just egotistic. I'm a heterosexual man who loves my wife and raised three great kids. My question is, have. any ofyou ever been able to answer that question. I would appreciate any thoughts on this question. Thank you and have a great day.
hi guys haven’t posted here in awhile but i’ve fully recovered and have a really good life now lots of friends enjoying school and have a really loving boyfriend who helped me out of my ocd even if he didn’t know he was helping me (just through being loved and supported i felt happy enough to recover) hope u guys can recover too i had severe ocd and basically got better within 2 months by myself :)
Hi all, I deal with HOCD and been seeing a therapist for about 3.5 months. It has definitely got better but still affects me very much. Was wondering there is anyone out there who has dealt with HOCD as well and has recovered. I would love to message or even chat just see how your experience was and hear what was beneficial to you.
