Is anyone else's POCD triggered by teenagers?

a lot of people have POCD surrounding really young kids and sometimes I get intrusive thoughts about it too, but mine gets triggered by teenagers. I'm always afraid that I'm attracted to them and in denial somehow. I also have a fear of being attracted to teenagers when I get older (because a lot of older people get called out for being predators) even though I'm super against that. The thought makes me want to puke !! It's creepy and I never want to be like those people !! Is anyone here the same?

I strongly feel you on this. Especially last month when I had a job and one participant was a teenage boy. Getting intrusive thoughts about this person was not at all fun and I hated when it came up all the times that it did. I also hate getting the thought that I could be secretly attracted to this group of people

It sucks so much. My instinct is to just hide or avoid so I don't have to deal with the intrusive thoughts. My younger brother is a teenager and sometimes he brings friends over and I just hide in my room to avoid intrusive thoughts. I dont see a lot of people tall about POCD around teenagers.

@Northern_Downpour I'm so sorry you go through that. The thoughts must be so awful to deal with. I'm sure you're not alone on this. People are definitely bringing up this problem because it's noticable when it comes to adult content that focuses on POCD with not knowing the age of people involved. That's one example of it. How would you do ERP in this case? Maybe sitting with your teenage brother and letting the thoughts sit will help you. I know that's really hard though

@BigGip09 Yeah maybe :( I do ERP by Watching shows or clips with teenagers in them, stuff like that, trying to ride out the anxiety.

@Northern_Downpour That sounds like good ERP. I hope eventually you'll be able to get through this thoughts with no problems. I'm trying to do the same.

@BigGip09 Thank you 😊 I hope it works for you too!! I think once you find what really works it gets easier to practice ERP. Clips/videos work well for me.

@Northern_Downpour Yeah! I just really need to spend time practicing uncertainty and getting video help on it. That way maybe my anxiety will lessen. But I'm not sure. My worries are about pretty heavy things and I can't accept the other half that says the worries are true.

Hey, I came across this post today and I resonate with you on this post . I’m 23 yrs old . I know this post is a little over 2 yrs old and idk if you’re still on this platform but I hope all is well with you My POCD is also triggered by teenagers. This was never an issue before and BOOM .. it’s like my brain did a 360 and false attractions .. groinals .. intrusive thoughts .. Mainly false attractions and groinals though I’m so scared dude Like it’s magneted to teens dude .. Like I just want to like a woman my age or older The thought of being a pred makes me super scared, anxious and disgusted !! Makes me want to puke !! I never want to be that !!
