I just saw this video of this lady talking about coincidences and death. I know I shouldn’t have read the comments but I did. It now has me freaked out that my thoughts are facts and will happen. How do people have gut instincts? It freaks me out. Has anyone ever feared this?
Yes I often get this when I know I will be flying.

@clarissa kaitlyn Well first of all I will share with you a very powerful definition of gut instinct vs. any random thought that helps me immensely still today. So instinct, or gut instinct, isn’t really a feeling, is purely a sense of knowing something. That’s it. No feeling is actually attached to that. You know something, often you cannot quite define it, but you know some new knowledge has entered your brain and is peacefully there. Something like, for example, a random intrusive thought of “my plane will crash” isn’t instinct because 1. It is clearly and easily defined, 2. It causes fear and anxiety. What I often say to people on here is: stick to your values and beliefs, so that’s how I deal with it: I strongly believe I cannot predict my own future and that if I wanted to I could find signs of any random thing, because that’s how our wonderful brains work. So I experience those thoughts and I accept them. They are there and will likely always be. I still want to travel and live my life to the fullest so I won’t let my anxiety/OCD stop me.
I think it's normal for most people to have lots of "intuition" and "instincts" and "gut feelings" about things which are also completely wrong and misleading, it's just that we have a much more difficult time dealing with it, and assign more significance to it. I try to remind myself that my brain only has so much information about the world to work with, and most of the fears and thoughts and predictions it tries to scare me with are things that it cannot possibly predict accurately, so they can be ignored safely. For me it's comforting to remember that the model of the world that exists in my mind is incredibly limited, biased, and inaccurate. It can't discover facts or truths through internal processes, and if it's pretending that it has then it's probably OCD lying to me.
I had this horribly before a recent cruise, everything was a “sign” I should not get on that boat. I fought through it and went anyways and nothing bad happened ‘ I do believe in intuition at times but it seems that is caused quickly so if you are dwelling over something then it is anxiety or magical thinking
I know I've had experiences with OCD suggesting some awful thought is an omen. I don't even believe in omens, but it would freak me out. What I've done, which has been very useful, is to say, "Okay, OCD, tell me more. WHAT VALID DATA DO YOU HAVE TO BACK UP YOUR SUGGESTION? DO YOU HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL? CAN YOU SEE THE FUTURE?" And, of course, OCD is a part of us and can't see the future, so I just tell it to get back in its cage. I got this exercise from my OCD therapist. Maybe it will help you, too.
For the past month and a half I’ve been getting horrible thoughts that I’m going to die soon and I keep seeing things on the news about 18 year olds dying and I’m scared it’s a sign because I’m 17 and my head keeps telling me somethings going to happen before I turn 18 or when I turn 18. I’ve also got a constant feeling in my gut that something bad is going to happen to me and it never goes away it’s a horrible feeling and I don’t know what to do. My head also keeps telling me I’m ready to die which I’m not I don’t want to, I’m living my life in fear and I’m really scared it’s not anxiety. Could this just be my mind daring me to think these things like the feeling I’m ready to die etc or is it my gut trying to tell me something and it’s sending me signs. I’m really scared. Please help.
Has anyone thought about something and have it come true? So for instance I thought about suicide and then one of my cousins committed suicide. I Think about something bad and then next thing I know it happens to me or someone I know. Now I'm having such bad anxiety about all these bad things that may happen to me and my family that I obsess over it causing me to extensively pray. It's exhausting and idk what to do or how to control it. I feel like every thought has or will come true that I'm having a hard time.
okay so i’ve had anxiety since i was atleast 8 and ocd since i could remember. and i’ve always done this thing where i’m like omg what if this is a sign and it stresses me out so much.. lately i’ve been having harm ocd thoughts worrying about hurting my partner and then yesterday i came across a tik tok video of a girl doing a reading and in the video she said whatever you’re thinking just do it and make that change and then in my head i’m like " what if this is trying to give me a sign about my harm ocd thoughts, what if it’s telling me to do it" but the thing is i would never hurt anyone nor even want to think about doing it.. these thoughts make me so anxious is this overthinking and does this count as intrusive thoughts as well? i’m always worried and think that what if one day i start to listen to my thoughts about thinking it’s a sign and it makes me SO ANXIOUS. is this normal for ocd/anxiety and how do i get rid of it?
