Remember with OCD, it’s usually uncertainty that is really triggering you. You met somebody new, and you’re uncertain of how things will turn out. Have self compassion first and foremost. New relationships are scary. You care about this person. But there’s so much unknown, and that’s triggering your OCD. You don’t have to do anything, just acknowledge that uncertainty exists, and you don’t like it. When you’re assigning lots of subject live labels like “good” and “bad” to thoughts, remember that thoughts aren’t good or bad. They have no substance or life to them. They come and go, and that’s pretty much the only thing that’s consistent about thoughts. You’ll forget most of the thoughts you had in 10 minutes, if not less. Just stay present. Breathe. Maybe call them “unpleasant” thoughts rather than “bad” thoughts. There’s a couple mantras I use to gently detach myself from unpleasant thoughts (I get them all the time too). “I am not the body. I am not even the mind.” is one. “I am not the voice in my head. I am the one who hears it.” is the other.
