Meds advice

Sooo my psychiatrist either wrongly or correctly gave me a med, Lurasidone (Latuda) for schizophrenia (though there could be a chance she just didn't understand shit about ocd psychotic like symptoms and thought i had schizophrenia instead) And my family is almost begging me not to take it The pharmacist apparently gave them a really sour glare when she looked at the medication before giving it and the side effects are many, dangerous, and weird (apparently can't take grapefruit) i wanna get better butbat the same time Don't wanna get worse because of side effects, especially with the multiple and scary ones there were

Delusions (though self aware of them) Paranoia like thinking people are talking about me or hate me, and feeling nervous when alone in the house as if something is there though logically I know there isn't There's more but apparently those two were enough to make my psychiatrist think I have potential schizophrenia symptoms

@FaithCeline Visually, no, sometimes I can feel this weird moment where the images in my head are very strong and almost feels like they're briefly Visual in a way but not really to the point that I can see i literally see them, more like strong flashes in my head that almost feel visual in a way

@Aquario I would maybe get a second opinion just to be absolutely sure, it sounds like they themselves are just experimenting.

@FaithCeline Oh definitely, the fact they didn't give me a clear diagnosis (which people on here where clearly not okay with that) and the fact they give me dozens of meds over the years to try out, some not even for my condition Feels like I'm some kinda guinea pig lol

@FaithCeline Ughh...this is embarrassing but......they can be pretty wild Thinking my mom could be a skinwalker Thinking she had a crush on me As a kid I thought my parents were imposters disguised as my real parents Another one is Thinking there's "evil spirits" or "energy" around me and I gotta think positive to prevent them from possessing me or something Like I said,I'm well aware these are delusions and can be weird as hell, but something in my brain feels like they're somewhat real and I gotta find evidence to disprove it and it causes me so much anxiety

@Aquario It’s not embarrassing, this app is a judgment free zone, but it still sounds to me like you should get a second opinion and tell them everything from a-z before even thinking to take the Latuda, the person should be 100% sure not on the fence when prescribing you medication

@Aquario I really feel like you should seek a second opinion before trying a really heavy medication, especially when there is a lot of ambiguity with your symptoms, I’ve heard of people who have been misdiagnosed and prescribed the wrong meds which just made recovery much more difficult for them. Don’t write off their viability, they could be helpful but please please see a specialist for OCD who has a more nuanced understanding of what you could be going through before making a big decision like this

@Aquario Did you start getting those “fake delsuional” thoughts after you started reading about psychosis and schizophrenia and researching it, or did the thoughts come first without you even knowing that’s how people who are suffering from psychosis think

Harm OCD made worse by psychiatrist visit

I went to talk to a psychiatrist based off my Nocd therapists recommendation. I had a very hard week beforehand where I had anxiety so bad I couldn't leave my bed. It seems like once I get my period my anxiety and everything dissipated some so I talked to the psychiatrist. Anyways, I was immediately put off by her because she told me she didn't have any information on me included in the referral for one reason or another. So I had to basically "fill her in" on my life story. I have anxiety disorder, panic disorder, OCD and PTSD. I told her these things and how hard the last week had been. She started asking questions like I had bipolar disorder, which I don't have. She then wanted me to take buspar and Zoloft TOGETHER daily. I know for a fact you never start two medications daily at once. You don't know which one is causing symptoms if you do. So I immediately didn't like that. I asked her about Zoloft specifically daily because it is an SSRI what I should do if it gave me thoughts of harm for myself. She told me "just go to the hospital".... Now, I don't wanna say that was the worst possible thing she could have said to me, but it was. Because now my OCD is spiraling that just my general harm OCD thoughts are enough to mean I need to go to the hospital. It had been 2 days and I cannot stop obsessing that maybe I'm depressed or suicidal because of this. I know I don't want anything to happen to me. I love my family and my friends. I am scared of death. But the thought is sticky and it's been so, so frustrating. My anxiety has been so frustrating. I feel so lost and like nothing I'm trying to fix my issues is working very well. NOCD therapy has been one of the only things to help in the long term, but I still get terrified of certain obsessions like suicide. I don't really know what to do, if anyone has any advice or any personal experience that may help, anything would be nice right now. I've felt so lost trying to figure it all out.

I've been doing better but...

Today I had my follow up appointment with my psychologist, I left feeling worse, I loved the psychologist I spoke to last time he was very informed and understanding, this time I got an appointment with someone who he supervises and I feel like she didn't allow me to speak, she didn't allow me to explain my thoughts or feelings, she told me I have to take my medication or she won't be able to continue helping me, which I understand but im terrified of medication I can't get over it, she said if i start the prozac and it doesn't work then I'll have to get on antipsychotics which seems a bit extreme to me considering i have no psychotic symptoms matter of fact she didn't even allow me to explain my symptoms and i feel like there's so many other antidepressants that could work before getting on antipsychotics🙁 this didn't help me at all considering the episode of ocd i just got through was about me becoming psychotic, I just feel let down and misunderstood, I almost felt as if she was mad at me for the buspar not working she said "you didn't really try it you just took it for a week so if you stopped it it's like you gave up on yourself" but it kept me up 2 nights in a row and i couldnt function from the anxiety 😞

Medication

So I have been diagnosed with GAD and OCD and my psychiatrist prescribed me with zoloft 🤔 but I dont know im really hesitant to start medication because im scared of the side effects and ik afraid of relying on a medication for a long time. Does anyone else take zoloft? What is it like? Any side effects?
