Hello wonderful people! I am noticing that my intrusive thoughts come mostly at night while I'm drifting off to sleep - and they come in phrases sentences or words relating to my fears. Doesn't happen during the day for me! Does anyone else relate to this?

This happens too! I do get intrusions in day but at night it always worsens.
It seems nighttime is worse for many of us! Do you experience intrusive phrases too?

@Hev78 It's so hard sometimes isn't it!! It really helps to know that we're not in this alone and that OCD is so diverse
@adeliepenguin I know but all I want is something to bring me out of the dullness!
@Hev78 I think for me whenever OCD shows up in a different way than I'm used to, e.g. in phrases or command type thoughts, I get freaked out! But I know there are so many different ways it can appear
@Hev78 By "dull" do you mean it makes you feel depressed / not feeling like you usually do? I can definitely relate to this, it's one of the hardest parts for me. But we will get back the colours of life!
@adeliepenguin Same! I keep getting FMOCD alot and it's seriously burning my brain to the point it tries to make it real, I noticed these False Memory onsets only happen when I'm suffering another part of False Memory, it's likely the OCD trying to find ways to put me stuck again.
@adeliepenguin Not depressed but like sort of feeling emotionless, not being able to do anything you want, bored-ish, not being able to think of anything you love.
@Hev78 Absolutely, it's all related to doubt isn't it! I'm sorry you're going through that. Please take it easy take it one moment at a time, you deserve gentleness :)
@adeliepenguin I know but I'm so desperate to want the best of life that it feels like Perfectionism OCD is at play.
@Hev78 I get this too. I'm a very creative colourful person usually haha so it's so hard when I can't feel that way
@adeliepenguin Like I know recovery isn't linear but when you have some harmonic days of goodness and then at night OCD fucks you up again, is that what happens to you?

@adeliepenguin I had a therapist but our sessions have ended, but I'm soon gonna get another one.
@adeliepenguin FUCKKKK! Like exactly man!! 😭😭😭 Like is it 2-3-4 days which one exactly? Because it always has to be WHACK-A-MOLE
@Hev78 That's a good step, I'm sure it'll be great for you! My psychologist helps me a lot
@Hev78 But yes I definitely find that OCD is just a racing mind and zooms from one fear to another - but you'll learn to slow down the thoughts that's what my psychologist taught me to do.
@adeliepenguin OFC MAN! 😭 Like it's so debilitating, and ngl I get so dull to the point I get pissed easily at words like "sit with the feelings and thoughts" because that wouldn't even work anymore well only in a dull phase.
@adeliepenguin How will I slow it down? Because I can't keep up with this.
@Hev78 When I get any intrusive thought / phrase at night now, I'm getting a bit better at reacting as much now. Obviously I'm still a drama queen because that's OCD, but I am more of an observer and can notice the patterns / triggers
@adeliepenguin I see, I guess if OCD attempts another shift I'll notice it with a feedback to it.
@Hev78 Have you tried taking antidepressants for it? That helps a lot of people. But for now, definitely give yourself good reminders - reminders that you're not alone, you're not going to be in this forever, it's fleeting, and you will learn skills soon. Keep up these reminders and be kind to yourself

@httpet As in, it's happened a couple times, when I'm drifting off to sleep some phrase relating to my fear of hurting others will pop up (not something I can hear, but just words like dialogue) For example the phrase "kick him" might pop up at night because I've been scared / worrying about hurting people during the day.
@adeliepenguin Oh of course, this is a common type of intrusive thought. Usually I just lean in or ignore it and don’t pay attention to it.
@httpet I'm definitely trying to do that more, and have been getting better at ERP :) feeling braver now. Thankyou for responding it means a lot
@httpet I always think I must be the only one 😅 but I know I'm not! I wasn't aware that it was common to have words & phrases pop up! Thought it was just me!

@httpet Thank you! :) for me the intrusive thoughts / phrases are like in my inner voice kind of - like when reading a book. I think that's very common right? Do you experience it similarly?
I don’t know how to explain this so I’ll do it to the best of my ability. Does anyone experience “co-intrusive” thoughts that try to negatively support the initial intrusive thought? Example: Me: “Thank God I never acted on (scary intrusive thought) & I’m getting better!” Intrusive thought: “What a shame you didn’t” These types of things send me into a spiral. It makes me think that it could lead to a desire instead of staying a fear. Like an intrusive disappointment that I didn’t follow through with the thought? It’s been a long fear/obsession & I think my OCD is trying to trick me that the only satisfaction would be to act on the thought. (I know that’s bs) But IS that why it sends me the negative co-intrusive thoughts? That’s the only explanation that makes sense. Then I wonder is it something else? Am I a grenade waiting to explode??? I simply cannot relax in any moment because I think what’s the use if I’m just going to (xyz) one day?
Any one else deal with this? Like from the moment they wake up to the second they fall asleep, the intrusive thoughts are there?
I feel like it’s just me. But at night when I start to fall asleep, play on my phone, or watch TV; I’ll get major intrusive thoughts and a butt load of anxiety. Has anyone felt the same about this? How have you managed it? It’s getting exhausting and even causes me to sleep-less.
