Intrusive thoughts

Hello I am a 27 year old male who has battling with very aggressive intrusive thoughts, it is not letting me sleep or not letting me live my everyday life because I feel as if I could hurt myself or someone else, can someone please help me out, ever since I got the flu I haven’t been the same, I was rushed to the emergency room thinking I was going to have a heart attack, they just pumped me with Ativan and gave me a prescription, but I’m also a very heavy drinker at night, and when I drink heavy and wake up the next day, I have uncontrollable thoughts and anxiety all day! Someone please help me!

I understand what you are feeling and get those same thoughts of hurting myself or others. Alcohol is probably only making these feelings worse and more intense. It may feel good and relaxing to drink in the moment, but it might hurt you in the long run. As far as your prescription goes, maybe try talking to your doctor about it to see if that is the best option for you. And remember: just because you have intrusive thoughts doesn't mean your going to act on them. You don't have to do things just because your brain tells you to. By being on this app and voicing your concerns, you have shown that you don't want to do these things that your thoughts tell you to do, so that's a great sign that you won't. You are stronger than your thought. ♡ Hang in there

When did the harm thoughts begin? Childhood? Adulthood? Did something happen in your past that makes you angry and worried you could hurt youself or someone else? When did the drinking begin? I need more information.

There’s a woman I watch on YouTube her name is (Chrissie Hodges) she has some really great videos of OCD and she’s funny. I hope that you look her up she’s my go to when I have these moments like you’re sharing check her out. I hope she can help and she has tons of videos of all different type of topics

hey there, i'm really sorry to hear about what you're going through, sounds like quite a struggle indeed especially not getting enough sleep and having to deal with daily life stuff on top of it all. 😔 also, it must've been quite scary to end up in the emergency room thinking it was a heart attack. i can also imagine it's tough when you wake up after a heavy night and the anxiety and thoughts rush in. have you heard about "unstuck"? it's an ai-therapy tool specially made for ocd (unstuckmyocd.com/try) 🧠 i've been using it for a month now and it's been a game-changer for me. another user here talked about it and honestly, i wish i'd come across it sooner! 🌟

morbid intrusive thoughts

hello! I am struggling right now because my intrusive thoughts haven’t been bad in almost a year, then out of nowhere things are getting awful. I’ve had them my whole life but it feels like my brain is attacking me with the most disgusting and weird things I could possibly think of. I’m not worried I will act on them but I’m more just freaked out that my mind is capable of coming up with these things and it makes me question who I am as a person. I’ve been to the ER twice this week with suicidal thoughts, I can’t do SSRI treatment because I have sensitive serotonin receptors and they always really mess me up. I feel like a freak right now and I just don’t know how to cope.

Someone please read and help me.

I just joined this app today and need someone to understand me or just listen to me. I have been suffering from extremely violent and gruesome intrusive thoughts mainly regarding my 3 year old toddler. I have noticed a peak in my intrusive thought struggle with a mass shooting occurs. I have a debilitating fear of a school shooting happening at my sons daycare. I am not going to get into the details but it is just so sickening that I can’t even type out what my head thinks. My problem is I self sabotage by reading about shootings until the story consumes me. Most recently the Highland Park shooting. I am worried because it has gotten to the point where I simply CANNOT sleep without taking something that knocks me out, otherwise I lay in bed with my chest so tight I can’t breathe letting these horrible visions play over and over again. I don’t want to be dependent on a downer to put me to sleep and an upper to get me through the day. This is the first time I am sharing my experience and it feels really good to get this off my chest. Please if anyone has gone through this and can offer anything please share it with me. I can’t go on like this
