I was just wondering can OCD switch between two specific themes. Recently my theme had changed from false memories (reassurance) to obsessing over news(Russia and the potential draft) and now it has switched back to my original theme while the new one is still subtext in my mind. Is this common and does anyone have any advice (I’m seeking out NHS talk therapies as don’t have the money for anything else)
mine is constantly switching sometimes a theme will disappear for a month and i’ll think i’m finally okay and that one’s gone but it’ll come back and completely shatter me sometimes it’ll stay for a week or a few or sometimes longer and then go away again it’s a vicious cycle, you mentioned the nhs so i assume you’re in the uk aswell and it’s so hard because i feel like for ocd help you need a specialist in it not just the support they offer on the nhs so it’s so hard to get better without the right help and here the only way you can access it is by going private and no one’s got the money for that
@dee Thanks, I know would probably need a specialist but really annoying part is I’m currently unemployed and my parents don’t really understand or take this stuff seriously. This why I’m trying free therapy (the NHS talk therapies as yes I’m in the UK recently turned 22) until I get some form of employment to pay for something better.

I’ve had the same themes of ocd on and off for years. I have a new theme i’ve never had before now. Has that happened to anyone else?
Does anyone else have some “fun” ways they’ve noticed their main reoccurring thought/fear with SO OCD or OCD in general change as you’ve worked on accepting your thoughts? When I really fell down the rabbit hole of SO OCD at the start it centered around, the possibility, that I repressed my sexuality due to a past experience I may have blocked out as a child. As I got started with ERP my main fear of repression then went to that of being in denial. Eventually that moved to a main fear of being a late bloomer with OCD then to a centered fear of not having OCD at all However if the passing thought that caught me after my therapy session today was anything to go by, it may me switching now to using my comfortability of seeing gay scenes and attacking me for not acting on my thoughts if I’m so comfortable with them. Like I’m not truly comfortable with it unless I go out and act on my same sex thoughts It’s funny to see OCD switch tactics/reasons as I grow more and more comfortable with my thoughts, but also frustrating because it still got me distressed for a moment with that new thought after my session today and wishing that that thought doesn’t stick.
Does anyone ever experience their OCD themes shifting extremely quickly? This has been going on for the past few months. I keep flicking through health concern, contamination, psychosis and sexual orientation.
