I just ended up confessing one of my real events to my girlfriend. I know I shouldn’t have (I haven’t confessed in so long 🥲) but today I finally failed. She literally laughed at it and thought it was funny. Even though I’ve been doomscrolling and in a state of terror all day. I know what I did wasn’t good, but her reaction kind of eased my anxiety. Classic mistake though, because now my brain is saying “You were finally allowed to confess something and you chose THAT instead of this much bigger thing?” I can literally feel my brain scanning for which of my reoccurring events to latch onto now :) Love this life. So fun.

hey! i know how rough that is. you confess something to ease ur anxiety down and the next thing comes up and u end up getting so itchy to confess another thing then another, and so on. its so tiring. i know u already know this but try not to adhere to the compulsion! i know its hard but you got this.

I’ve confessed before and yes it does latch on to other things. The best course of action is to not give into this compulsion but perhaps sit on it. Ask this question before confessing “is this immediately relevant? Will someone be hurt if I don’t confess? Is someone in the process of being hurt?” If no then hold back. Yes even if you have hurt someone in the past, that is a past action. Be present, all you can do is be present so act accordingly to immediate stimuli that’s all we really can do.

Gave into a compulsion….

I had a really good day yesterday because I was able to manage my thoughts and identify them as intrusive. I had little to no anxiety and actually felt pretty stable throughout the day. Then, I went to sleep last night and had a triggering dream that I cheated on my girlfriend. I would never do that :( I hate these thoughts. If the thoughts involve my girlfriend, I feel like I have to tell her…..any advice on this? I ended up telling her and she said that I’m telling her to feel less guilty in the moment but at the expense of her feelings. This made me feel terrible 😞. The last thing I want to do is hurt her but I just feel like such a bad person having these thoughts. Please help if you have any advice 😕

Confession will destroy my relationship

I confessed to my girlfriend about things I did in the past and I feel like she's disgusted with me and is making her upset. Any tips on how to stop confessing? This is literally hell. Every morning I wake up with anxiety and guilt and feel the need to confess something. Am I not allowed to be happy and move on from my past without feeling the need to let everyone know and them thinking I'm a freak?

What if our Real Event really is bad?

I know this is such a typical OCD thought, but I really feel mine is. Without going into too much detail feel like I basically SA'd my ex without meaning to and got away with it. I feel like I need to confess to everyone, including ny current gf, but I'm worried people will never look at me the same again. I'm trying so hard with ERP but I feel like I'm just using it to avoid confronting what I've done. I feel like I'm going to get cancelled or thrown in jail and my life is going to fall apart. I feel so guilty and sorry. I want to be a good person.
