Has anyone here stopped taking hormonal birth control pill when in a relationship? How did it affect attraction to partner, sex, and ability to orgasm etc. I just stopped taking the birth control pill for medical reasons but I’m freaking out about how it might impact my sexuality/ attraction
Hi! I hope this isn’t too reassurance-y, but I had the exact same worries when coming off the implant after 8 years. I actually found that my attraction to my partner and my drive and confidence in general actually increased. 🤷🏽♀️ You never know!
@Emmanonymous I feel more aroused and have urges to masturbate but I still don’t feel desire to have sex with my boyfriend :-(
I actually did a few months ago. My personal experience was my mental health got worse and my anxiety heightened and that affected my relationship in that I was upset a lot of the time. I don’t think you need to worry about how it will impact your sexuality/attraction, but I do think it is definitely anxiety that is causing you those thoughts. Don’t make any decisions now as it takes a little bit for your body to settle :)

@Anonymous I decided that I wanted to get back on it for personal reasons, but my anxiety had calmed down a lot aince
heyyy, I just wanted to say that you're not alone! I, also, have been taking the birth control pill for about 10 years now, so I started taking it at 16, and I'm soo scrared that it's gonna reveal that the false attraction where actually the real ones and that I've been able to "hide" them because my hormones where under control and that now I'm just gonna realise that I was in denial all along and that I'm not attracted at all to my partner and that it was just comphet! I'm not stopping anytime soon but the fact that I started taking it around the time where you kind of figure out what you find attractive + the fact that SOOCD started even earlier kind of freaks me out!

I can only share my experience but I am 4 months off hormonal bc pill (I’d been on it for 7 years), and so far I’d say that the only change I have noticed is that sex w my partner has been better for me! I’d say that if going off birth control is a medical decision you want/need to make, please don’t let this fear get in the way. Odds are you won’t experience much of a change, and if you do it could likely be positive— but it will probably be a very subtle change if anything. Hope that helps :)
@Anonymous Thank you SO much for this response. I’m on the pill and have been for 5 years! I don’t remember experiencing a change when I went on the pill, but this obsession is just strong. Thank you again and so glad to hear things are going well for you :)
Hi there! I’m seriously considering starting OCD medication treatment. I am particularly reluctant to psychiatric medication cause a very bad experience I personally had before (I think that a bad administration of medication is one of the main reasons of my OCD). My questions about are: does the medication affects your sexual life? Does medication changes who you are? Is anybody out there that has been involved in an OCD medication treatment and has fully recovered? What are the side effects? Thank you!!
I have been medicated for OCD since I was 7. Now I am 29 and my husband and I are wanting to have kids soon. I am worried about how being on medication that long will affect my fertility. I am also worried about if I will be able to get off of my medication while pregnant. I think I need to be medicated for my mental health but I am terrified at what the medication could do to my baby. All the Drs I have talked to say it’s fine but honestly I don’t trust them. I have been reading medial articles and studies that say that the medication I am on (Lexapro) can cause harm to my fertility and to an unborn baby. Has anyone else dealt with this?
It’s sad to me that I haven’t been feeling larger amounts of attraction towards my partner recently makes me scared that my fears about not loving him anymore are true. I used to feel like I just wanted to be with him and talk with him a lot but now I feel more like I want to do projects or Art a lot of the time and it makes me worried that something is wrong. When we do engage in sexual activity I feel very not in the moment which is also super upsetting. I just want to go back to how it used to be.
