Anybody else have obsessive ruminations about their partner being a “moral” person? It doesn’t relate to God or a higher power but rather being obsessed about my partner not causing harm to others/ fighting for social good.
YES! This is a big one for me, I feel a strong urge to make sure my partner has the same social views as me and that he is a “good” person by having those values.

@mariamaria Yeah! Or even if my bf has a very similar view as me but then he may not approach or do the exact same thing that I would do and i would just spiral from that 😅😅
@Gettingbetter444 Yeppp same here! This theme also extends past just what I think and I get obsessed about my friends thinking he is perfectly moral too lol.

YES!! This is a big focus of my ocd and I always feel like it doesn’t fit neatly into an OCD subtype. I had a big flare up this past week because of my husband saying something that really triggered me. And I feel awful because he was being vulnerable about painful parts of his past and his mental health journey, and my mind twisted it into an ocd spiral. It’s rough. I’ve been trying to lean into thinking “maybe, maybe not” when I get intrusive thoughts or worries about whether or not he would do or say or think a thing I think is immoral. It’s really hard, but that’s been helping me loosen the hold of ocd a bit. Hang in there; it’s hard but you’re not alone, and you’ve got the tools to handle this!

Wow this is amazing that I’m not alone! Thank you for that advice. You’re right about it not fitting neatly into an OCD subtype. Sometimes I see it as a mixture between ROCD and Perfectionism OCD maybe.
I continue to get distressing thoughts surrounding my love for my boyfriend and if we are going to work out and are meant to be together because he is of different religious beliefs, and I grew up hearing that doesn’t work in relationships. We have been together nearly two years. I know I love him, and he supports my beliefs and I support him, we have had conversations about it. but my brain goes through intense periods of hyper focusing on the anxiety surrounding it, making me feel like I am going to hurt him, or we are going to break up because of me and our differences. It’s very distressing and I ruminate a lot about him and try to calm myself down by thinking through the situation, a mental compulsion? I know worrying about your partner is normal but I feel like I hyper fixate on the compatability between us and me hurting him and I don’t know if it’s ROCD or if it means we aren’t compatible. It’s upsetting.
