Relationship with God & OCD

Hello, For me this can also be a constant battle. I think admitting that you want to be in constant control is the first step. I then think it’s having that faith to trust that God sees the bigger picture. His plans are greater than we can imagine. Doubts in God are normal with and without OCD. What brought me a lot of comfort was Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith isn’t defined as the 100% certainty that God exists, is real, has good plans. Rather it is walking blindly in that hope and conviction of things we cannot see. It’s trusting in the Lord when things look bad, choosing to trust him through the doubt. I think when you really look at the Bible, you can really see how comforting its words are for people with OCD.

Hello, Mark Dejesus thematizes this in his podcasts and also in his book, that OCDers are perfectionists (because OCD only tolerates „just right“). They constantly revolve around the next task and compulsion. They need to „do“ stuff, but that makes it hard for them to receive the love of the Father. But He is there with us. We can learn to trust and dwell on Him and let Him love us - everything else will flow from that. „OCD Healing Journey: Getting to the Heart of your Obsessive and Compulsive Struggles“ is the book I’m reading currently, but the author also has those topics in his ((free)) podcast. I’m not getting paid for recommending this.
