About fluoxetine

Usually these kind of medications take some time for the side effects. I would say stay away from forums on the internet relating to this. Talk to your doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist if you feel unsafe. From what I hear from many who take similar medications is that it does get better but it takes some time for the medication to take effect

I was on fluoxetine for a while, but a wayyy lower dose. I felt like it made my anxiety better & my ocd worse?

I’ve been on Fluoxetine (aside from when I randomly choose to stop taking it) for about 18 years. The extra anxiety when starting is common. Side effects generally calm down after a few weeks but if you’re worried about them your doctor is the right person to talk to. You may find the side effects return probably temporarily if you ever increase your dosage (I’m on 60mg)

Hi there!! The start up is rough, which seems pretty common, I was on it and then went off and chose to resume it again bc my ocd flared and I needed another tool in my tool box, I’m on 30 now and will probs stay at that for a bit but 40mg was the dose that really helped me in the past. It’s tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you’re experiencing side effects, I’ve been there too, my ocd wants me to research and google everything (which is a compulsion) I resist those urges at all costs and tell myself maybe this will help maybe it won’t but I’m going to keep on keeping on . I found that after a couple months most if not all side effects have passed
