Need help finding difference

Tw, groinal responses (18+ convo) Can someone tell me what the difference between a groinal response and true arousal is? Is there any true way of knowing other than you don’t want a groinal response? My groinal responses tingle, sometimes feel like I need to pee or a stinging feeling (I’m a female) and it’s usually mainly focused on just the feeling between the legs and nothing else. When I’m feeling arousal (from what I know) there’s a core heat and aching up the loins then pleasant feeling. I feel calmer in this state then with what I assume is groinal responses. That’s the only way I think to see them differently. If anyone is an ADULT and would like to also talk about their experiences, leave a comment below thanks

You know true arousal when you are in a positive mental state and your mind AND body are in it, rather than just your body. True arousal is when you are present, accepting, and enthusiastic about what is happening to/with your body and who else is around you. Doubts/intrusive thoughts within true arousal are normal, but if the overarching feeling is negative and you are wanting to stop your body from having that reaction to whatever stimuli, then you know it is not right for you, and you don’t need to be worried that you’re secretly aroused by something that (in reality, according to your true desires and morals) disgusts you or is unappealing.

I'm also female and my groinal responses tend to feel really uncomfortable and a little painful. It's feels forced out of me. My real arousal feels pleasurable and doesn't bring me that pain that the groinal responses do.

@Studybug I totally get the feeling a bit painful part- was on a vacation and extremely anxious the whole time and it triggered really more painful responses.

I think a groinal response is something the body does when it changes state. So maybe “fight or flight,” or anxiety, or fear. Or anything outside of sex. I’m religious so I always thought arousal was something God created to making becoming one with some so special. This is also coming from someone who has never had intercourse except when I was jumped and sexually assaulted a few years back

Arousal Feelings 😭

So, does anyones groinal responses/ arousal or what ever you want to call it, can it be stronger than normal arousal? Like I exposed myself to sex scenes and arousal is stronger than regular arousal w my husband. 😭

Groinal feels automatic

Does anyone else feel like the groinal response comes without specific thoughts? I suffer with POCD so sometimes I just see a child or hear someone talking about a pedophile and I’ll instantly feel the groinal and a lot of anxiety. You so often read that the groinal follows an intrusive thought, but for me it’s gone beyond this.

(This post is to the men) Groinal response

TW - This post is directed to the men. Also, this is going to be TMI I'm a guy and I've been having a rough time talking to people now. A lot of times I get groinal responses even during talking to people -- really anyone, including family members and other dudes. I'm not really sure what the reason is. But it is difficult having that happen because as a guy, it is of course more obvious to the outside world when it happens, and I have to hide it. Anyway, I was at college just a few hours ago and ran into someone I knew from one of my clubs and they talked to me and I got a groinal response and I had to cut the conversation short because I obviously wanted to get out of that situation and I didn't want anyone to notice and think I was some kind of pervert. Of course, I wasn't even thinking that way. And what makes it worse is that it also just so happened to be a lady. But it's just really hard to get a grasp on those thoughts because of OCD. Man, it stinks... Anyway, sorry for the TMI
