Anyone have contamination OCD about there kitten/puppy getting on them and making them dirty if you can call it that it's a unknown contaminate but starts my washing compulsion and trying to keep them from getting on me unless iam already feel dirty,Contaminated hard to explain
Not specifically with animals but in general yes and it is taking over my life. I have “clean” and “dirty” areas of my house and if I’m already “dirty” then I can enter/ interact with that area but the two can never mix or everything would become dirty. I didn’t even know contamination OCD was a thing until recently. Here if you need support.
Thx,Yes I know the feeling if I put on my clothes that I already played with them in I can play with them but I have to wash my hands and everything that was clean they jump on there kittens now but don't know what I'll do when they have the whole run of the house unsupervised feel bad about it the ocd is stopping me from how I was with my past cats I had for 16yrs till they passed and I rescued thease to keep going back and forth did I make a mistake maybe they be better off with another person without ocd so hard and guilty feeling trying to practice the erp but it only working in some situations as of now used to have to wipe door knobs and grocery with alcohol wipes but stoped the compulsive ritual so far
Yes. 100%. And I hate it. Because I love my dog so much.
I feel you my kittens are so fun cute and loving, 10mo and 11mos when I'm not on the ocd and anxiety and depression hamster wheel,Hate it Covid was my trigger to re awaken it was dormant for years
@Nightowl44 Covid also ignited my OCD as well and it just spiraled in following years. Ur kitties sound so sweet. I’ve been practicing holding my dog and not washing my hands bc i cant stand the idea of withholding love from her bc of the unknown contaminate. i remind myself that we've done this 1,000 times before OCD and nothing bad happened.

I just got my own kitten today and am having a lot of ocd and anxiety about it 😞. I grew up with dogs and a cat my entire life in my family home and never had a problem. Although since moving into my own place I’ve never had one of my own specifically. I got my kitten today (I love my family pets and always wanted my own) but I’m soooo anxious. My ocd is terrible!’ Im worrying what if it was the wrong choice, what if something goes wrong , he ruins something, chews chords and causes a fire, changes my feeling of control over my living space, contamination fears , etc. whyyyyyyy do I feel this what do I do
