I disclosed my disgusting intrusive images to my husband and he's used it against me. We've been fighting and if we get divorced I'm afraid he's going to tell people. If people knew they would be horrified and I would lose all the people in my life. I shouldn't have told him. I'm so scared and angry at myself that I told him.
You know what you struggle with. If others use that against you, then they have problems with being cruel and/or ignorant of OCD. if he told people and they reacted the same, then they don’t respect or know your heart. But also—if he told others, it may surprise you how understanding others can be and/or know your heart—or even share those intrusive thoughts. All are possibilities. Whatever happens note it and edit who you surround yourself with.

Your husband is meant to be a safe person. He shouldn’t use your intrusive thoughts against you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The people in your life who know and love you want the best for you. Please remember that.
Yes, but even if they are the most disturbing? I mean they have caused me to overdose on Xanax in 2022
Hurt people hurt people. Doesn't justify what he's done. It's hard for someone who hasn't experienced ocd to understand, and even if they do it won't be fully. I want to offer reassurance but the uncertainty will benefit you if you know how to do erp. I've disclosed my intrusive thoughts to a therapist once and I think I scared them. They weren't specialised in ocd and I didn't know I had it at the time 🤷♂️
Well, my therapist understands, but I don't think my friends and family would At ALL!! I would have to say he's lying and he's nuts!! I mean seriously, they would Not get this...I know it
@Speckles Have you asked your therapist for resources that might help him understand?
@Wolfram He said he gets it, but always using it against me when we fight!! So wrong and then calls me psyco!!
@Speckles Maybe ask what's bothering him for him to use that against you? I wouldn't wait for an argument to start discussing it

@Speckles Maybe if you watch TV together, watch TV shows and movies with characters that exhibit his behaviour and maybe he'll realise what's wrong on his own. Don't tell him what you're doing as it sounds like he'll be hesitant or stubborn.

I shared on Instagram about what it is like to have harm ocd yesterday for mental health awareness day, and now I cant stop thinking that this was a terrible thing to do....My mom told me that I shouldn’t have said anything on social media because a future employer or school could think I’m violent, so I took down the post. I can’t stop thinking that now all of my friends and family think I’m a terrible violent person because I shared some of the intrusive thoughts that go through my head in an effort to get people to understand... I’ve been repeating an exposure of saying how I’m going to be arrested, my family will disown me, Im going to end up homeless because everyone will think I’m a murderer, etc, but I’m still just so stressed about it, despite the ERP....
I recently told my fiance what has been going on with me since it just started to occur and I couldn't stop myself from crying and hiding it. I currently have been having intrusive thoughts like POCD becuase of something I watched on TV. And now I am having regrets on telling him becuase I am scared he might tell someone and my life will change I never wanted these thoughts in the first place I don't want to be seen as a pedo for something I didn't do or can control yet mentally....I'm scared he might use it against me now it's making it worse and idk what to do I love him so much but I keep thinking he will tell his family since they are so close....he told me he wouldn't but it just keeps bothering me I love his family I don't want them to think differently of me....what do I do?
Hey guys, so these past 4 months I had a sudden onset of OCD after a concussion. It first started with HOCD which was super distressing as I’ve been in a 9 year relationship with my girlfriend. It then evolved into transgender OCD, which was horrible as well but it felt easier to disprove my intrusive thoughts. That and of course horrible health anxiety about my head. And it’s funny, as soon as I got comfortable with one topic, the OCD would jump to another. Basically over time I accepted all these negative thoughts about all these topics, so where does my mind go? I had a physical groinal response to an image of an underage person. It freaked me out so much that all day I was obsessing over it, I eventually told my girlfriend as she’s been supportive with me over the other topics. But this…. She’s angry with me, and doesn’t trust me anymore. And she doesn’t understand the groinal response. She did ask to sit in a therapy session with me to help her understand. But that’s about all the communication I’ve gotten from her. I feel so alone. And it’s literally ruining everything I’ve built up with her for the past 9 years. I wish I hadn’t told her. And instead just asked her to join a therapy session with me. Just making this post as I just need someone to talk to.
