I am doing it from the UK. I know it's the same language. The cost has been a lot and I would have liked to do it more often but I've still recovered a lot. Give it a go, do it as much as you can afford to and see what happens. I agree with Jimmy, watch out for your OCD holding you back because the conditions aren't 'perfect'.

@g🦋 You can always check out the International OCD Foundation website. They have a list of approved OCD therapists based on country, city, etc. Maybe they can help.

@g🦋 Good luck. You already sound pretty informed about what OCD is and what kind of therapy you want. So hopefully if you do go with the local therapist, you will know if it doesn't feel right. It's ok to change, and any good therapist should understand that, and if they don't they perhaps weren't a good therapist in the first place. Before I found NOCD I saw a local therapist who never mentioned OCD and tried to do EMDR on me and it was a really damaging experience. But despite what OCD tells you, you do still have a gut instinct that you can trust. You sound pretty self-aware about what you're dealing with, so let that give you confidence that you will keep pushing for the right help for yourself.

@g🦋 I am so glad you found someone! You are on your way to recovery!!! Let us know how you are doing. We are here for you. Please remember that recovery isn't linear, it's messy. Don't get discouraged. There are better days ahead!

@g🦋 - One quick thing, call it a coaching moment...Sometimes we find it hard to tell our therapists certain thoughts, feelings, etc., we consider the most vile or embarrasing. If you experience this reluctance, have a leap of faith. Your therapist is trained in OCD and, like a priest in the confessional, he's heard it all before. Be not afraid!

Hi, I'm currently doing therapy with NOCD from Ireland. Now I know our primary language is English so that does help...but I would encourage you to go for it! I was kind of managing on my own but I just got to the point that this will never truly resolve itself and need extra help. As for the money, it is annoying that insurance outside America won't cover it and I can't speak for your financial situation but I'm not in the worst position and I just really want to deal with the ocd. If money is too much of a barrier (which is totally fine, cost of living in the EU is really tough right now) there are great online courses like CBT School from Kimberly Quinlan which are a one off payment and you still get a lot of resources that help with erp and how to do it alone. Plenty of good workbooks as well. Any bt Jonathan Grayson or Jon Hershfield are a good place to start. Hope this helps 😊

You probably are obsessing about obsessing...I nearly convinced myself not to do erp therapy, I guess the ocd knows you're looking to do something about it and decides to kick up a fuss! 😅
