Themes changing several times a day?
Does anyone ever experience their OCD themes shifting extremely quickly? This has been going on for the past few months. I keep flicking through health concern, contamination, psychosis and sexual orientation.
Oh my gosh YES! All the time! Sometimes it even varies day to day. I see it as OCD trying to catch you off guard. When you deal with one theme it throws in another to throw you off. It’s kind of like a twisted game to your OCD. Don’t let it get to you though. You’re not alone!
I find this mostly happens when I'm bored and or there isn't much going on for me to worry about so my OCD is trying to bring out some older ones and or random ones to stress me out. I suggest trying to get some distractions and doing some things that you like for example maybe writing or crafts or video games, etc.
Yeah, this is basically a given for me everyday. It’s unrelenting, but once you learn how to deal with each theme, it starts to get easier to manage. Never goes away fully, obviously, but it gets easier to know how to apply the skills as it shifts from moment to moment
I need to know if someone else experience this because I think this may be the root of some of my ocd themes. So basically even when I don't really have a theme going on I get intrusive thoughts of different topics. For example if I'm reading an article about a person with ADHD my mind tells that maybe I have adhd and because if I had I'd be different, and it feels like I want to even though I don't do because I know how destressing it is to live with such disorders and who would ever want to develop a disorder like that. I get intrusive thoughts like about illnesses, identities and other things and my mind says that I have to have those things because they would make me different and my mind wanted me to be different in that way. And it felt like I wanted those things even tho I know how terrible they affect people and didn't really wanted to have them. Now it tells me the same thing about gender and sexuality that I have to be different in that way while I don't and it's causing me hocd right now. I guess this is my final answer but I wanted to know if somebody else experienced something like this. Like sometimes I get depressive episodes because of my anxiety and ocd but once I became obsessed with the idea of having chronic severe depression and I got so anxious but then felt relieved when I didn't but then my intrusive thoughts would pop up here and there
I’ve had the same themes of ocd on and off for years. I have a new theme i’ve never had before now. Has that happened to anyone else?
I was just wondering can OCD switch between two specific themes. Recently my theme had changed from false memories (reassurance) to obsessing over news(Russia and the potential draft) and now it has switched back to my original theme while the new one is still subtext in my mind. Is this common and does anyone have any advice (I’m seeking out NHS talk therapies as don’t have the money for anything else)
